Never done shifts. :sweeeet:

Unless working nights as a security guard counts when I was at Uni?

I didn't do further education to do shift work!

I can see the attraction of 6 -2. No traffic on the way in, finish early enough to spend some time with the kids on a night and as long as you get an early night most of the time it doesn't disrupt your life too much.

Now 2 - 10 or 10 - 6, no thanks.

The only good thing about nights is going home just as the rest of the country is going to work. They're still shit though.

I do shifts, nights all that,it's bitch at the time but it does get me 16 weeks hols a year so musn't grumble.
by the way I was once a postie and used to be on a 30 hr contract over 4 days and used to do do an extra day as ovies. I'd start at 4.30 to get the round sorted then it was job and knock,so basically you were paid till 12 so if I hit the streets by 6 I could be done by 8.30 and home by 9 every day. occasionally you'd get asked to cover someone else's round as overtime, this was known as ghost overtime, you'd agree a fee,say 3 hours on top, get round your round by 8.30 get the next round done by 11 and still be home before you were originally due to be finished.
alan leighton said that the posties were 40% underworked and 25% underpaid,he's right about the first bit but not about the second.

I used to do a 3 shift rota in the early 90's at samsung.

6-2 I hated, always knackered by 8 oclock, always foooked again the next morning.

10-6 Suicidal - how I did that for 2 years i'll never know

2-10 Probably the best of the lot apart from the summer when ur mates were out on the lash doing the gemini on a thursday and ur stuck in a factory stick as foook.

Shift work is shite end of. Now I work anywhere between 8 and 6 on flexi and love it. Paid for sick leave, flexi holidays, long lunch breaks and work with lots of totty.

Mind, I am a council worker :sweeeet:

I work 4pm to 8pm, sitting round a swimming pool drinking lager.

I do the early shift on 9am to 12 noon sitting at the computer drinking coffee.

Mind that's split shifts......

Shifts aren't so bad......

I used to love 6-2

I must work the worst shifts in the world now though

Days - Mon - Thurs 7:00am - 3:20pm Fri 7:00am - 2:55pm

Lates - Mon -Thurs 4:35pm - 12:55am Fri 3:10pm - 11:05pm

But there is usually an hours overtime on after each shift, except Fridays, as well sadx

I could not possibly say, it irritates those of a sensitive disposition.

Anyway, I've just got back from the pool and three lovely icy beers at 20p a throw. Dinner and more drink at 6pm. Only six hours to kick off!!

Earlies - 7:00 til 3:30
Lates - 11:00 til 7:30
Nights - 7 til 7

1 weekend in 5 or 6 7-7 Saturday and Sunday

Quite like shifts - never stuck in traffic, lots of weekdays off, plenty of music listening on a night ...

Must add that MJ's site has been a godsend !

21 years I've done shifts. I prefer the 12 hour shifts we do now, you don't go to work on nearly as many days as a three shift (mornings/afternoons/nights) system. More days off, and less chance of working weekends. Swaps and holidays usually ensure I get to Pools home games, as not everyone at work likes footy. I don't mind working other times for them, such as Fridays and Sundays.
I don't like working days to be honest, horses for courses and all that!!!

a varying range of shifts from 5am to 1pm. 2pm to midnight and lots of different ones inbetween all in the same week.
but the good thing is we can swap shifts so i dont miss any home games due to work.
if they are struggling i have been known to work till 2pm and go back for 5.30pm on a saturday with a long enough meal break to watch the match

just got in from 12 hour night shift. I'll go to kip about 9 when the wife gets up. I always wake her up if I start pottering about in the bedroom after nights - she hates being woken up from a good sleep!!!

I've done enough exercise for one day(cue jokes), thanks!

Possibly next Monday but it's a big possibly as I'll have just drove 200+ miles. Definitely the Monday after though. If you'll have me. :uhoh:
