I felt we were at the very least worth a draw after the way we played in the second half when they rarely troubled us.

We created as many real chances as Forest today, most of Forests shots in the second half nearly made the upper tier of the Trent End, if we had not given cheap goals in terms of general play I think we deserve a point.

First 20 minutes aside, I think he's sort of right.

Most of Forest's possession was in first 20 mins, from then onwards in terms of midfield we were the better team.

We had more proper chances. They had more 1/2 and 1/4 chances.

But let's be honest we were never going to get anything with that defence. We had a longer spell of being the better side but when teams do have a spell the back 4 fails to clear their lines and communicate and that leads to them having a host of pressure and having more shots.

I know we've got a good team but it is so so frustrating when the answer to our defensive problems is sat on teh bench.

I'm not saying that they are anything like the same level but it smacks of a certain person continually saying 'we'll take positives from that' after the latest thrashing.

It doesn't really though, as what Wilson is saying is true we probably did deserve a point, he also admitted we aren't doing so well defensively. Chuckle was trying to tell us we had played OK when we hadn't.

we did deserve a point for the way we played,
but to be honest I can only remember their keeper
making one good save in the second half (from Moore).

It's all about end product, we look good but we need
to sort the defence out and get the right starting line up (nuff said)

Wilson usually says it how it is.

But what worries me is he says he's going to tweak the defence.

I'm sure he said that on the radio before today...and low and behold he does tweak the defence by dropping McCunnie.

But at least he knows what the problem is.

That's the bit that worries me.

At least he's almost in the right area.

it looks like we are gonna learn the hard way, we give away silly goals and don't take our chances. The defence needs sorting and in attack we need something a little extra.....

I hope it's hurting the players as much as it's hurting us. The results may need to be cruel to be kind so they can realise what they have to stop doing.

Not from what I see above and what I seen today.

the problem with stats is they don't distinguish between a shot on the volley from 8 yards (like the one we missed in the first half) and a hopeful crap effort at goal from 30 yards which goes through to the keeper. The first one is a real chance, and goes down as a shot off target. The second one was never really any sort of chance at all, but goes down as a shot on target!!!
Meaningful possession is what counts. Possession percentages are often another misleading stat. A team could have the ball for 65% and pass it between themselves in their own half/midfield but without cutting open the opposition. The opposition might well use their 35%
extremely efficiently and purposefully, and create an opening on goal most times they get the ball!!! I'm willing to bet that any mis-matched teams in FA Cup matches in the past might not have too much difference in possession, but when you watch it you know which team is going to use it better.

I would damn well hope the players are gutted to keep losing these games!!!!!
If they aren't, they may as well be playing in the premier league, where without a doubt most of them don't give a shit!!!!!

My heart says we deserved more but not my head. At half time, I thought we'd go on and win. But we conceded too much in the second half and were not as dominant as at Leeds where we certainly did deserve more. And we had the same old failing of not enough sharpness up front. We maintained pressure for some periods (not much in the first half) but not too many clear chances. We need a bit more quality than what we have in the front line (and that applies to all except James Brown who is good and getting better), but that comes expensive at this level.

Plus points? Jan Budtz is looking the part - some good saves and he kicks better than Dimi. And overall we are now surely an improvement on the last match vs Forest at the City Ground which (I believe) was 2-0 and we were lucky to get 0. And the away support is phenomenal.

I think their you have the solution. How good was Browns first touch (he pulled it down from about waste height) turn and pass out to Moore in the second half? It was a premiership piece of skill. Brown should start up front on Friday night, teams are double marking him every game on the wing at the moment, and I thought Moore looked good wide right his cross the goal the excellent.

Brown and Barker also combined well on a couple of occasions.

Agreed Brownie was superb upfront and I hope he sticks with him there. How about this for a team then:

Budtz

Mccunnie
Clark
Nelson
Antwi

Monky
Liddle
Boland
Moore

Porter
Brown.

Champions elect.

I'd buy that.

That's Brown's position alright, but I think we have to accept that physically he isn't up to 90 minutes there.
He was absolutely crean crackered on Saturday, after about 70. However I'm sure that stamina will come with time.

Surely that is why we have other forwards on the bench.
