I've only ever twice opened the bedroom curtains on the morning of a Pools match to see 1 magpie in the back garden.

The first time before I set off to Cardiff, the second prior to the Leeds game the other week. We lost both.

Just been to the cashpoint this morning and a black cat crossed Hylton Road in front of me. Does this mean we'll win today?

I don't think that ornithology in an obscure part of Hartlepool has much bearing on a sporting occasion 145 miles away. As for the car, definitely!

It seems our flame haired mackem chum and the Dibbler/Master Of Disguise/Three Taties More Than A Pig/Fat Chuff were spotted talking murder and kebabs outside the Studio, venue of the famous 'Never Say Die' recording recently and it has been preserved for posterity:

There's something in this. I've noticed a correlation between good results and traffic light behaviour in Co Durham. Also a good sign if the grill lights straight away without needing the gas lighter

At about 4pm BST today I shall be able to tell you exactly whether Pools will win or lose.

When England rugby win Pools lose and vice versa.
And since I doubt we're going to get far against the Aussies, that's good news for Pools innit.
