Pools v Brackley

Renamed in memory of John Hawksworth, a stalwart member who passed this day 2nd August 2020. RIP Mr Monkeybutt.

Sadly we must add the name of Kevin Minton, Aka Mr Ripper who passed 30/6/22. Kev was also Mr politically incorrect but a nicer lad you could never meet.

Pools v Brackley

Recruitment or non Recruitment will play a pivitol point in this result.
Won't be easy as they the only team to beat the mighty tinpot Real Rochdale.

A hard fought win with the new forward getting the winning goal in the 98th minute.

3198.

They did, I'm still scared by witnessing such a horror show - only good thing about that result was Uncle Darren getting axed the day after.

Grayson signed a dozen players in the summer and apart from Danny Johnson the grapevine missed all of them.

He said he expected a couple in by the end of the week - we likely won't have a clue who they are till they're announced.

Heard a whisper about Reyes Cleary. No idea how much truth is in it, probably just because he was spotted at the last home game.

So have I, from the Yorkshire end. Not getting me hopes up but it would be very agreeable if it is true. Might just be short term though I'd love him for the rest of the season.

If we can get Cleary on loan again (even if it's just to Christmas) then I'll partially fund it by buying the orange shirt. I tried one on when I was home in July - my son who is 20 and goes to the gym twice a day looks great in it - I looked like a giant tangerine. But I'll I'll buy it anyway if we can get Reyes back for a bit. Are you reading this Joe Monks?

but there mist be others around like him who nobody had ever heard of before we loaned him. shows he is no world beater by what happened at walsall and now at barnsley. i would love to see him back myself and its possibly the highlight so far in his career.

I think we should go in for Micah Hamilton at Boro. He was signed with loads of promise from Man City, but he is getting no game time, not on the bench all season. Had a difficult loan to Stockport last season so needs to drop lower to get some game time. Similar style as Cleary, very quick winger who scored in the champions league on his debut.

Big drop down for him but with the window closed it’s either national league or sit in the youth team until at least January.

He's on this list of free agents Robbie Stelling has done today: https://www.hartlepoolmail.co.uk/sport/ ... ry-5309556

Stelling did a few like this over the summer - not sure they were much of a guide to who was actualy signed. Might be that there's better options among players who are ready to go out on loan.

my lad saw him with stockport and said he thought his heart was not in it. makes you wonder if he,d be any better if he came to pools. if you cannot look interested at a promotion chasing league 1 team then what would his attitude be as a non league player.

Similar game to last week in that we could have played till midnight and not scored. Say it every match , no quality, no end product . Brackley seem to be happy to get a point or sneak 3. On this performance it’s mid table mediocrity . Just need some spark from the forward men . I would put Johnson on at half time with one of the new guys

Really poor, like pools of old, boring to watch and they have had the better chances. We have defended well, but a better clinical team would have beat us 2-0

Agree worst game of the season . Total shambles . Grayson needs to spend more time on the training pitch. Better teams would have put us to the sword . Team looks like it’s lost its soul

Only one man to blame and it’s not the Manager or the players. Grayson is doing well on limited resources - can’t see the situation changing either.

Listening to the live commentary Brackley appeared to be the better team, this is a team promoted last season with an average attendance of under 1000 spectators, if we can’t beat teams like Brackley we will be stuck in the NL for the foreseeable future unless there is some serious investment in the playing staff.

Just got back from the game, it was very uninspiring. Too much sideways and backwards passing, one shot on goal at home is dreadful.
I normally try to be positive but I'm struggling today, I could say a clean sheet but that was very fortunate, brackley must be disappointed not to have come away with a win.

Hopefully just a blip, wasn't good though.

"...just a blip...." Four points from the last five games is relegation form.

Draws are 2 points dropped which is not much better than a loss. Today was against a part-time club.
Grayson has done a great job with the defence but it's goals at the other end that create 3 point wins.
To concede a mere 3 goals after nine matches and not even be in a play-off spot says it all.
