Went Monday and it was a very good result. Feel if Grayson had left the defence alone, we could have won it being fair the Southend goal was a fluke as Parkes was attempting to clear but the ball came off his foot like a bullet. Being fair how many times has Parkes saved us. If the first half has been played how we did after the equaliser we could have won it. A very good advertisement for football at this level.

I was at the game and agree. Southend looked a powerful pacey outfit for the first half hour but maybe it was because we allowed them to be due to the way we were set up. Again, at the risk of repeating myself, Carter was outstanding and kept us in it. Even in the second half when Pools had more control, he had to make two one on one saves, I think one of them came directly after a Pools near miss when they broke like lighning. Imagine how sickening that would have been, almost scoring at one end and then being immediately clobbered. I had two mates with me who dont watch NL football and were impressed by the standard. Some of Pools passing and movement when Charman and Daly came on was superb although I couldnt appreciate it at the time because I was in the away end: highlights package showed it very well. A tough game for both teams and I would suggest it would be hard to find better entertainment.

we broke the deadlock against braintree with a similar OG. if both players had missed the ball i guess a player from the home sides would have put the ball in.
