Get away with not playing Saturday?
If I was Woking I would be splitting blood and demanding a postponement that they have to play on 2 days rest while York play on 6…completely unfair

Something to do with donkey racing I believe - but you are absolutely correct it gives York a big advantage over Woking who were chasing shadows all over the pitch on Saturday.

More to do with the Women's Rugby World Cup.
York's stadium staging matches, so I think they are missing 3 home games.

York don't play again until Saturday 6th September, whereas just about every other team play twice before then. I think it is because some of the Womens Rugby World Cup fixtures are being played at Yorks ground

Swings and roundabouts then, we'll get free midweeks later when they're playing catch up. Plus we'll have loads more points (??) and the pressure will be on them to win their games in hand.

Football doesn't play second fiddle to Rugby, everything plays second fiddle to women's sport though - football, rugby, marbles etc would all get preference in the eyes of the authorities and the media.

Surely it’s up to the Rugby authorities to sort their fixtures and not mess up other sports on a national basis….and the sports affected got down to looking after their own fixtures and not messing clubs about to accommodate novelty sports..

If they get stuck for a few more seasons that loudmouth chairman will get bored and do one I reckon, shame.

If york dont get going shortly no way will they have a chance of winning the league. Played the bottom 3 already and struggling for results.

So they will be playing catch up after falling behind in games. Presumably there is a clause in the agreement for the building of the new stadium that permits the staging of mickey mouse events ahead of the sitting tenants? Fortunately the ground will be hard and won't readily cut up under the hooves of the rugger ladies.

They should have just flipped all their home games to away, better than falling behind in fixtures

That could be an inconvenience for other clubs and their fans, buggering up other clubs plans.
No, it’s self inflicted and serves them right for such a pointless event.

makes it worse that its a rugby union and not a rugby league event where the york city knights play RL on that ground. its two dfferent sports with only the ball being the same. if there are not adequate RU grounds to stage it then let countries who have em put the box ticking event on and leave football alone.

it seems an odd sports choice for a normal lass to take up. looking at a lot of them you,d expect em to be rivetters in a ship yard that chew twist. give em publicity but only to the level of the interest in the game and no more.

Must admit, the ‘Wimmin’s’ rugby scores are not something I look for.

I was at Salford on Saturday for the Women's rugby and it was a great day out with 10k in an 11k stadium. Only £10 for a standing ticket for a double header and loads of families. Having said that Salford is home to a Premiership rugby team which York isn't.

You wouldn't argue with the Samoan props if they spilled your pint in the pub I'll bet.

I'm surprised they didn't use Headingly rather than York as it's a much more attractive venue for a general sports fan than a shopping centre on the outskirts of York.

To be fair, I don’t like rugby…in fact most sports in this country tend to be organised on club and social lines…so we never get the best..just the best of the fortunate…..footballs different, that’s why I like it.
