They got the name as they were the works team of a window company.
Should it not be the wood or the glass?

I thought Scunthorpe were teh Iron.....I see a fairly turgid 1-0 win in front of 3,100 or so----

Pools concede fairly early on and struggle to make an impact until late in the game when our never say die attitude finally pays off with a deserved o.g. equaliser. 1-1.

They got a brick outhouse called Akinde up front. I think he is in his twilight years as a footballer (he's 36) but he'll keep our centre halves busy for around 60 minutes. Could go tits up if he is allowed to dictate.

Some say this is not a "Must win game"

If we draw we will have 2 Pts out of 6 Pts
If we lose we will have 1 Pt out of 6 Pts

Its plain to see this is a must win game, imo
We cannot drop points like Saturday, And expect to do well this season.

Mark Carroll just said on radio Tees.
We have to win this game.

they have won there first two games but both have been at home. its not yet in the must win catogary but always feel that the first home game can set the tone for the season as its remembered more than others. going for my normal pools defeat by 1-2.

Hope we have worked on our set pieces then, Cause on Saturday they were rubbish/predictable.

We have to give it our best shot and leave nothing on the field. The first win in any season is a psychological landmark and the sooner the better. Keep the back door shut and take your chances is the cry to give us the best possible shot at three points. I don't normally get involved in predictions but I'll give it a go and say 2-0 to Pools with around 3800 Poolies there. More would be better.
A lot of relief will be in the air after a sound performance and three points. So come on lads get it done.

I predict Braintree will defend like fook and hope for a break away or set piece goal. Do Pools have the guile to break down a packed defence?

Be interesting to hear what the crowd is and it would be good to know how attendance is calculated. It's been said many times before, but there have been occasions where it looks way under the announced figure. Got a feeling that will be the case again tomorrow. Could be a legitimate reason for that but another common question that will be ignored by the club.

I do think we have a decent manager though, it's mostly the front line that is perhaps questionable. Got to give them time.

(Why, oh why, did they let Mani go!!?!)

It won't be long before we find out.

Mani wasn't "let go" he left of his own accord and as he was out of contract he could sign on whatever dotted line he wished. You can't tie him to the main gate, unfortunately.
We'll probably never know how hard SG and the Board tried to keep him but he's history now and we move on.
Talking about history he did the same to Halifax when his contract was up there.
Personally I also wished he had stayed. I would have liked Joe in a Pools shirt as well but these scenarios happen.

Joe could have really kicked on this season with SG in charge, Especially with Reid and Johnson up top.

Benns set pieces were appalling--forgetting the ones he just put out of play there was in general no speed on his delivery---hopefully just an off day

am expecting injuries not withstanding the same starting 11, with Campbell on the bench in place of either Feather or Hunter

I might be wrong but I thought Season tickets were counted whether they showed up or not?---though my guess is we have sold less of those this year than last so if that is the reason for the disconnect the actual physical attendance may be closer this year to what's announced

I believe you're right. Looking around, last season it often felt like the attendance was over-egged by hundreds. I'd be surprised if that many season ticket holders stopped going. There was always an audible chuckle when the attendance was announced! Feels like there must be another explanation as well - or our eyes deceive us! (The NWC might be more densely packed than we realise for instance.)

If we keep 11 on the pitch, we should win, say 2-1.

Since most of what used to be the Town End migrated to the Mill House and became the NWC, the Town End nearly always looks half empty or worse. On the other hand the Mill House Stand, which is the biggest in the ground anyway - 3,449 seated and standing capacity - is generally pretty full, apart from the corner nearest to the Town End!

I agree that all season tickets are counted towards the gate of each individual game at the Vic, but this is pretty much standard practice these days. See this article about Premier League attendances on Sky Sports:
https://www.skysports.com/football/news ... tually-get
"clubs now count all season ticket holders in their attendance figures, regardless of whether they turn up to the match"

Going by the availability of seats in the MH Stand about 500 had been sold by yesterday evening.

About 250 on Thursday.

If 3800 turn out I'd imagine a lot more pay on the dayers than STs would make Radgy happy.
A win is vital in this scenario.
UTP.
