In a post on social media, S im on Pe a rson, 56, who teaches at Preston College said Connolly’s online comments were “obviously wrong” but she “should not have been jailed”.

But he was dismissed after an internal investigation, prompted by a complaint from a Muslim representative of the National Education Union (NEU) at the school, found his online posts had the potential to bring the college into disrepute.

Mr Pe arso n told the Telegraph: “I am appalled by the way I’ve been treated. I’ve dedicated my life to education and to supporting students from all walks of life.

“Yet as soon as I was branded ‘Islamophobic’ for expressing concern about violent crime, I became a marked man. It was clear that I had to be found guilty by the college, it became a witch hunt, and I had to be eliminated no matter what.”

Mr Pe arso n is an ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) teacher at the further education college in Fulwood.

It wasn't delayed....he plead not guilty which meant it had to go to Crown Court....which takes time no matter who you are.

thats totally true but has nothing to do with a teacher getting the sack for having an opinion on an issue that can hardly be classed as islamophobia. funny though how we can criticise the catholic church for there wrongdoings of the past without any label being attached to it.

Another fact about the Catholic Church is that there has been a drop in Mass attendance as a result of the child sex abuse crisis.
Also a 1/3 of Catholics who donated to the church have stopped doing so.

Compare that to the what the Muslims are doing, despite the horrific and vast numbers of child sex abuse cases by their men, more mosques are being built and their religion is on the increase.

Say something about the Catholic church and the sexual abuse of children and that is fine, people are on your side.
Say the same thing about Islam and you are branded a racist and you could also fall victim to the Starmer regime!
