New Keeper ??????

Forget the level of opposition or the youthful ones in my mind what we now need is a decent keeper to hold out behind the defence. If we are going to keep Smith in goal we should of kept the young guy that went to Redcar. There are still a number of good keepers left some training with the PFA pre season camp. So come on lets get the final peace of the jigsaw in place and get some one signed.

We have a failing with keepers for several seasons.
We seem to suddenly realise we need one just before the season starts, as though they’re an optional extra and go sorting through the skip of goalkeepers like skip rats hoping to find one with most parts intact then give them a contract.
A keeper is as vital as any high scoring forward, which seems to have been forgotten

Ive got a feeling we will get a decent keeper in on loan. I think in the meantime we may start with Smith on the opening day (he has just completed 90 minutes and appears to be over his injury). It wouldn't surprise me if we gave a short term deal to the young trialist keeper as back up.

One of these three all at PFA camp Paul Farman(Barrow) Archie Mair (Norwich) or Jamal Blackman(Shrewsbury) all with good experience and big and imposing. I agree with Snowy about keepers over recent years and one we need to put right.

It should be easier for a goalie coming in at the last minute rather than outfield player. Wouldn't be surprised if we don't get a season long loanee. Of the 3 mentioned Farman is from the north east and has played a decent amount of games recently.

then why is he and the others still without clubs. think its a problem position in football now and the reason there are still many keeprs still playing who are closer to 40 than 30. its not that they get better with age its because there are less coming up to replace them. so much for goalkeeping coaches eh.
