Nothing against the lad--and not even against the signing if hes a good one--but imagine even a decade agoo if we knew we'd be in this situation--obviously Bromley have moved up in the world but we shouldn't forget just how far down we have gone....this can't just become our accepted state as a club.

We've fallen a division it's not as if we've dropped from the PL. And we'll never forget it, you remind us at least twice daily.
Let's give the new lads a chance before they're written off just because we haven't signed them from PSG or Chelsea. I seriously hope they give this board a swerve.

Amazing isn't it. If you'd said a few years ago that people would be chuffed with York and Bromley cast offs they'd have thought you were mad. It IS mad!

Just the way football is, Real Madrid just bought a player from Bournemouth for £50 million, imagine that a decade ago... some teams move up and some move down

We stuck to ridiculous lows. There's no sugar coating it. We've been run down through pure incompetence. There's other clubs who would love to have our support regularly out performing us.

Is it about how far we have fallen or is it about how we attempt to get back?

You could argue that if the current promotion/relegation system was in place many years ago, Pools would probably have been a regional league team a long time ago

It's an easy league to fall into but difficult as f*ck to get out of.

Same regime, same recruiters, years of failure.... expecting different results?

Who's not giving anyone a chance? I said they appear no different to players recruited in previous years. There is no reason to expect different results, there is actually precedent to support thinking that it'll be a case of same old same old. Its possible we'll do well but nothing at the moment suggests that actually will until (and if) we actually do.

It's a shit overated division.

But that line has now overdone its excuses for what seems like normal year on year Failurism.

Whatever you say. Except the names may change but Raj' appointments keep on delivering the failure.

We have fallen more than a division the way we are run though. We're a joke shop now. Let's stop looking for excuses. When we start raising our standards which I hope one day will happen with a takeover then maybe we will start winning football games regularly. We say the same stuff about signings every year and every year it seems we stoop from one disaster to another. Fans actually raving about getting some of these players borders on ridiculous, false hope.no one says we need to get players from psg and Chelsea but they are also not fooled by the standards of the some of the players we bring in not all but a great deal of them.

Not excuses, but you do realise our demise as a club started after IOR, we were close to being in the same boat as Morecambe?
Nobody is happy that we're in this league, nobody is raving about any of the signings.
But surely to f*ck this relentless daily new thread bemoaning our position or questioning every new signings doesn't need to happen? Just continue yesterday's thread ffs it's not as if the message ever changes.

I've seen loads of fans raving about signings we have made, the club gets questioned now because they are taking the piss out of us so they are rightly scrutinised on everything now. If we don't they will probably not even bother getting players from the dizzy heights of Bromley.

"To say “Very average players” is an insult, Don,t recall their clubs chasing them.
1 of them was offered a contract by a very experinced manager, 1 was still under contract, 1 turned down a contract, 2 of the clubs finished above us and the other 5pts below us.
I could be wrong though."

Guess who said the above more or less exactly one year ago? They were indeed wrong in the end. The players were average as was our season.

Well stop posting happy clapper shite then if you aren't happy with people posting 100% posts on how it is now and has been for quite a few years.
It's a Message Board you keep saying...people have different opinions or it wouldn't work you keep saying. Mad as a box of Frogs holding Spanners.

Where have I even mentioned Raj? I ain't defending him, I'm not lauding the new signings, I'm merely asking why we have the same message every day as a new thread?
We know we're in a mess, we were yesterday, and the day before, and the day before and so on......

When people start waking up to EXACTLY why we are where we are then that will be a good day. We don't need to live in the past, the present gives us excellent examples of what can be achieved when you just start doing things right. To ignore the evidence right under your nose is turbo denial.

If there had been a successful takeover and these exact players and manager had been signed, there would be little criticism of them at this point.
Which is why I like to separate managers and players from the Owner..two separate entities.

The recent past is littered with errors galore.
To have a semi positive future then a root n branch review of the previous shit has to be addressed

Agree the past is pathetic.
But hoping for better with the same methods won't change anything for the better.

And hope sentences on the internet.
Like that's Gunna get us promotion.

And I'd like to make a belated apology for getting slightly carried away last season when Skippy got them 3 wins in a row.
I mentioned the PO words.

I will take any critical crack on the chin.

Which is why I like to separate managers and players from the Owner..two separate entities.

What criticism has there been? Its not criticism to say they are unremarkable NL type signings, they just are. Its weird that people are getting buoyant about it and a clear sign of how far we've fallen. I'd have much more faith in a new regime bringing in players who turned out to be Sterry's and Oates's rather than the numerous strugglers that we've had to witness.

Nothing against the lad--and not even against the signing if hes a good one--but imagine even a decade agoo if we knew we'd be in this situation--obviously Bromley have moved up in the world but we shouldn't forget just how far down we have gone....this can't just become our accepted state as a club.

Eh?

Everything Raj ever done, was done because of you...

I'm sorry I still can't read between the lines on this one. You'll have to spell it out.

Lighten up..if it was announced at 11 this morning the new owners were taking over and the manager and players were their targets, a few people would be ‘altering course’ and not blushing.
I have no idea if they’re shite or bright, time will tell…I was just musing over the scenario.

But the title of this topic has obviously indicated an opinion on a certain player’s ability.

In reference to the above post of mine…. I should point out that if new owners actually are revealed at 11 this morning as in my make believe scenario…I’m buying a Lottery ticket. bbolt

like it or not we have signed someone from the league above us no matter what that team is. if we were back in league 2 would we be getting upset if the player came from a smaller league 1 side. at the moment there is nothing to tell if any of these new signings will be a sterry or an oates, who many didn,t fancy at the time, or strugglers like sloggett.

You could argue that if the current promotion/relegation system was in place many years ago, Pools would probably have been a regional league team a long time ago

at best another workington or worse a new brighton. less fans then and still crap on and off the field.

I disagree with you but we're never going to know anyway. Stuck with Raj forever.

I realise threads like this help keep The Bunker's wheels turning in the close season, but the truth is nobody will really know how good or bad Grayson's recruitment has been till the season starts.

14 players released by Pools or left since last season. 9 new signings so far, and the count will be into double figures by the time Pools face Yeovil in 3 weeks time.
