Watched a boxing programme the other day & it got me thinking of the times when we have showed the rest of the world whos boss.My favourites are
Lloyd Honeyghan v Don Curry
Lennox Lewis v Mike Tyson
Nigel Benn v Gerald McLelland
Joe Calzaghe v Jeff Lacey

Any more for any more ?
Next one Ricky Hatton v Floyd Mayweather ?

Lewis v Holyfield, all 36 rounds of it. The cheating American bastads ((c)ADG) would NOT let that title cross the pond.

Some of Naseems fight were great entertainment an' all.

But Joe Bugner...... stpid stpid stpid

It was 24 rounds with Lewis & Holyfield,I had the money saved to go see their first fight which should have been December '98,but it was put back to March '99 on the weekend my daughter was due so I couldnt go.
I think the highlight of Nazs career was beating Tom 'boom boom' Johnson. It was frustrating that he never fought in world class again after the Barrerra fight.
I remember being in a nightclub in Stockton the night Joe Bugner got bashed off Bruno, the DJ turned the music off & turned the sound up on the telly for everyone to watch it

Benn against McClellan was the most enjoyable fight I've ever watched.

All of the yank's pre fight bolox about putting Benn in hospital...

Barry McGuigan v Eusebio Pedrosa - He was supposed to be too canny for the young McGuigan but that's not how it turned out....

One of the worst beatings had to be Dennis Andries v Tommy Hearns... I think the Hitman put him down about 7 times in three rounds.....

Worst overall World Champ Fight - Johnny Nelson v Pedro De Leon. 12 rounds of dull tedium as Nelson danced around and occasionally threw a weak jab while De Leon plodded after him. De Leon got the verdict but if there was any justice both would have lost....

This ain't no walkover for Hatton, Mayweather is a class act. That said I think Hatton will beat him - just.

Not forgetting Tommy Hearns had to step up a couple of weights to light heavy to take him on.

To be fair, Hearns was one of the best boxers of the 80s and some think of all time, while Andries had to an extent got lucky. His response though was remarkable - he went to the Kronk Gym, home of Emmanuel Steward (Hearn's trainer!) and persuaded him to take him on, eventually winning the title back again in his late 30s....
