Brown sauce outrage

Renamed in memory of John Hawksworth, a stalwart member who passed this day 2nd August 2020. RIP Mr Monkeybutt.

Sadly we must add the name of Kevin Minton, Aka Mr Ripper who passed 30/6/22. Kev was also Mr politically incorrect but a nicer lad you could never meet.

Brown sauce outrage

Is it possible to buy brown sauce actually made in this country…thought I’d cracked it with my new purveyor to find in the very small print it was concocted in fecking Spain :angry-tappingfoot:

fine if you like everything dry and tasteless if you use em for certain things. As for sauce i only use it to hide the taste of any food i am not keen on.

I can’t imagine the Spanish smothering their food in brown sauce, Spanish cuisine has its own rich array of sauces, but brown sauce, as understood in British terms, is not one of them.
HP Brown Sauce is no longer made in the UK. Production was moved to the Netherlands in 2007 by its then-owner, Heinz. While the sauce was originally produced in the United Kingdom, it is now made at a Heinz factory in the Netherlands.
It still has the Houses of Parliament on the label though.

Its not as if heinz are a british company anyway as they originated in the usa. as for spanish and other foreign foods they put many sauces in their food whilst ours is more or less plain without any at the outset. i,m dine with anything without sauce but many like to spice things up a bit with the least effort possible.

HP Sauce was originally made in the United Kingdom, specifically by Frederick Gibson Garton in Nottingham, England. The recipe and brand were later sold to the Midland Vinegar Company, which later became HP Foods.
Heinz bought HP Foods, the parent company of HP Sauce, in June 2005 and s now made in the Netherlands.

I grew up having Hammonds ‘chop sauce’ on almost everything I ate but after lockdown they ramped up their prices. I think it’s about £2.60 a bottle (plastic not glass anymore) now and the Aldi brown sauce is about 89p! As much as I like the stuff I don’t like getting ripped off so I dropped Hammonds after about 50 years.

Sounds a bit like my relationship with Pools…

Is brown sauce made from the lining of a cows intestine hence the Spanish export it all to Britain?

WTF you on about Snowy, I am not disputing where it’s made, jumping in with both feet as its one of my posts, i am pointing out brown sauce is not part of the Spanish cuisine, I can’t ever remember seeing brown sauce in the condiments in an authentic Spanish restaurant, of course if it was El Chippie in Benidorm it might be.
Apology would be accepted or admit you got it wrong although I doubt you will.

Well you must eating plenty of it, the UK imports a wide variety of fruits and vegetables from Spain, with a significant portion being fresh produce. Key imports include tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, lettuce, and citrus fruits. Additionally, Spain exports significant quantities of stone fruits like peaches, plums, and apricots, as well as grapes, melons, and berries. There was an article a few years back where the Spanish were using human excrement to fertilise the vegetables in the fields.

Dear me another bite, you can’t help yourself Snowy, oh it’s Jamie again, quick where’s my tablet key board warrior time again, tbh half the time well more than that I am taking the p*ss out of you and you don’t realise it.
Finished with you for today Snowy, can’t think of another subject to wind you up on, see you tomorrow.
Time to check the global stock markets out and see how my funds are performing.

Jamie, that’s the biggest load of bullshit since Adolf Hitler said in April 1945…” We can win this War”

Yes, I enjoyed composing that Snowy, thanks for the compliments
BTW I was looking at the global markets, I have been doing for years, one of my ‘hobbies’ to see if any of Trumps latest tariffs would affect the markets. It looks like they take every thing he says with a pinch of salt now, his new nickname is very apt TACO.

You must lead an exceedingly boring life getting ‘aroused’ over bond markets, Trump etc…who gives a flying fuck….
I can’t begin to even comprehend the banality of your existence and assume the character that is ‘Jamie1952’ is a wind up (given your supposed life profile) from your odd postings.
I’m gonna have go back over some long departed posters from the past who obviously created you for a giggle, there’s one or two candidates out there who come to mind.
The big worry is you are actually a real person.

I only found this out the other day

Thorntons Limited is a British chocolate manufacturer owned by the Italian confectionery company, Ferrero. It was established in 1911 by William Joseph Thornton and Joseph Thornton, his father, in Sheffield, Yorkshire, England.

I guess this is Ferrero as in Rocher

How have your stocks in the Magnificent Seven performed since Trump came into power?

Initially slumped more so Tesla,if I had had I would have bought more in funds which invest in the M7, I don’t buy individual shares. They are now back up at the level of Trumps pre tariffs threat apart from Tesla. Trump mentioned in the early days when the markets dipped it was the time to buy into the markets, his millionaire/billionaire mates would have cleaned up albeit it was said Trump mentioned the introduction of the tariffs to his mates beforehand meaning there could have been insider dealing obviously illegal
