Renamed in memory of John Hawksworth, a stalwart member who passed this day 2nd August 2020. RIP Mr Monkeybutt.

Sadly we must add the name of Kevin Minton, Aka Mr Ripper who passed 30/6/22. Kev was also Mr politically incorrect but a nicer lad you could never meet.

Centre Half released by Scunthorpe. On X but yet to be announced might just be more BS.

Yeah a mate of mine supports Scunny. Says their backline was very solid last year. The gamble is if he can do it for us a division higher. Our record for plucking players from the divisions below isn't good at all.

Now has 3 central defenders so could play 3 at the back with wig backs. Good to be getting in big defenders as Pools always seem to have a small side. Next a bid target man.

He'll get credit if when we see him play he's any good---I doubt most of us had heard of him until a couple of weeks ago--he seems to be a good profile but lets see how he does

Yes, I didnt check The HUFC Official X site. I hardly ever go on Twitter (or x as it is now known). you could make arguments for or against most of the signings so far...typically fans are over optimistic before the season starts (its how we survive) but we have had that drummed out of us with the last 3 years of shite so not surprising when there is a glass half empty approach.

My view so far is we are way short of a playoff side, and our recruitment so far needs to all be very good/get lucky with injuries in order not to have a very poor season----Time will tell.

Lots of people saying this is a great signing. I don’t know how they know this unless they somehow watched lots of Scunny games last season. He was in the league below and previously played for York when they were crap and some Irish teams. Some were buzzing about the other centre back we signed too who was also from the league below.
Still time to get some proper quality in though. I’m hoping Grayson has some good contacts and can get 2 very good loans in from them. Need another exciting winger, a striker and a creative number 10 type player. These would make a huge difference.

Looking at the National League North final table for last season and with our two new central defenders paying virtually all the games Scunthorpe conceded 30 goals and Kidderminster 37. Now we need a decent keeper playing behind them.

Got to remember that Holohan came from Waterford, Sterry from South Shields, Molyneux was released by Sunderland having played U23 football for them. None of them world beaters by any stretch of the imagination at the time we signed them but they came good for us, similarly Mani D.
How many of the new signings will come good for us, if any, is anyone's guess.
One thing for sure is that mass clearing out and signing 10 or more new players every season is not working, could be the reason for the 2 year deals? Or maybe players won't come here for a 12 month contract?
We seem to be building a squad where a lot of them were well regarded at their previous clubs but the big question is can we get the best out of them? Recent history shows that we turn what look to be good players on arrival into poor players for us generally. Can we turn that around with the new manager?

You keep forgetting that the list of failures dwarfs that. You keep forgetting that DCs magic touch was a once in a lifetime opportunity. Another one that was blown.

Not forgetting anything, I've said we have history of turning what should be good players into poor players. And I'm saying that needs to be turned around.
Campbell for example was very highly regarded at a club that got promoted from div 2 but for us he looks ordinary at best.
If we all believe that DCs magic touch was a once in a lifetime opportunity we may as well just give up. And by the way we've had equally good managers, Turner, Cooper, Knowles, Wilson, Murray, to name a few.

Not sweeping anything under the carpet.
Very much doubt anybody has had a failure script at any time though, why would you want to fail when ultimately it'll cost you money?
We've never been the basket case that was Darlo - yet!!
Understanding why players and managers come here with decent reputations and fail needs to be understood and addressed though.
Raj will leave at some point and maybe that'll be the silver bullet, maybe not?
Is it the club culture that's holding us back, or is it a dressing room / training ground issue / something else....?
Here we are again signing players that look decent on paper, will they click on grass?

need to get lucky sometime by recruiting average profile types of player into a team and not loads of individuals on the pitch that hardly ever click as a team. that was oldhams problem last season but eventually they clicked when it really mattered. then barnet were hardly worldbeaters either, so reaching the play offs is hardly an impossible task in this league if you get the right players in where a decent manager can get the best out of them. question is can this happen to pools.

Ah the old straw man again. Before you make any kind of claims like this, make sure you can track back and find examples of me saying it. To save you time I can tell you that you won't. If I ever did say owt like that let me reassure you, it'll be very very clear and I'll even double check it for grammar.
