I posted this a while ago and the suggestions people gave me didn't work and I've just put up with it but it's doing my head in now!

My screen resolution is shagged.

It's currently on 800x600 and that's far too big, 1280 x 960 is far too small. I presume 1024 x 768 would be perfect but when I click that it says that its 'out of range'.

Anyone? sctatchinghead

Restart Windows in Enable VGA mode by pressing F8 on the boot-up, change the resolution to 1024x768

F8 is the key to screen resolution, therefore if your F8 key isn't working you won't be able to fix the other problem.

Ring whoever made your computer and ask them to send somebody out to fix your F8 key and once that is done you'll be fine.

Alternatively, you may be able to get a second hand F8 key from somewhere like ebay and fit it yourself.

Are you using an LCD screen? If so then there's a good chance your problem is with the refresh rate. Don't set it any higher than 60Hz. It may be that the default rate for the higher 1280x960 rate is 60Hz, but the default rate for the 1024x768 is higher? Try 1024x768,60Hz

Right, cheers. But how do I change the refresh rate? sctatchinghead confised

I turn on her regularly.

Usually if she tries to tell me I've had enough to drink or that smoking is bad for me.

I also have a pc problem.

Jave is somehow not on my pc anymore, so it wont let me download music anymore.

I try and get it from java.com and it refuses, says my internet settings wont let me.

Had the F8 repair key man out last week, he installed a whole new F8 and it works better than ever.

But on this occasion it isn't the F8 thats the problem.

Thanks though

No worries, too many people are unaware of the whole F8 thing and think that it's not something that they should get fixed.

Try turning it off and back on again.

Try download.com.

Or renew your Media Player. Should be on MP11.
