Any tips for a good night out in Nottingham

any bars to avoid - ones you'd recommend

pistol or rifle - that sort of thing

about 12 of us -all late 30's + 1 late 50's

Depends what you are looking for and which night.

Generally you need to be heading to Hockley or the Area surrounding the Market Square. All the bars round there are fine, the trouble in Nottingham tends to be in the inner city areas rather than the city centre. Rules are no different to anywhere else; to avoid trouble don't hit anyone bigger than yourself and avoid arguements - I'm told knives are commonplace.

Don't believe the hype about guns. It's always drug war related, whenever innocents have been killed its been because they were either caught in the crossfire or were in the wrong part of town in the case of Danielle Beccan.

I've been in Nottingham for about 15 years and have yet to hear a gun go off in town.

As per Mr I, just head for Market Square. Everywhere worth going to is within very easy walking/staggering distance from there. Nottingham has a great nightlife and you'll stumble across loads of great bars.

It is mostly bars though, rather than pubs, so don't all turn up in your pools strips and denim....

One more good thing, the students will be back in force so there'll be plently of fun to be had with the new girls in town...
