Apparently the introduction of Net Zero could see the end of fish and chip shops according to the Fish Fryers body …. electric heating would make fish shops financially unviable. sadx

They have already gone....
I have been away for a year or so, working and returned home last week.
I fancied a bag of chips, so I went to the chip shop at the Brus Shops.

£3.60 for a bag of chips!!!!!
Jesus....I remember when it used to be a cheap alternative

now its become a treat if you actually have a good one close to you. the restaurant ones are even more pricy with not much change from one jmw turner if you have a drink with it. no wonder toby carvery is busy when you get more value.

I believe it’s because they use gas to heat up quicker and control the temperature more efficiently…plus new new ranges would be required and quoting £60k for starters.
Ah well…such is ‘progress’. sadx

that makes me wonder why they are not red hot anymore when coming straight out of the pan. no need to blow on your chips anymore as you have to gulp em down quickly before they go cold. that was never the case once.

They will do if they keep upping the price, £11.50 take away last year in Seaton, woman in the queue in front her bill was £30, no longer an option for a cheap family meal.

Dis-plaice-ful news.

Sounds like we'll be herring more about this for a while yet - while the government simply skates around it...
