Must be one of the most stressful situations we endure in life.
Getting keys this morning for our new house due to a 'forced' move.
Excited to get the keys because I haven't even been inside the house....our lass done the viewing....but this weekend I'm not looking forward to....then the real move on Monday.
And don't get me started on informing all the utility companies!!! banghead
But at least Jess won't be getting stressed....Leggie and his family are minding her till Monday. Cheers Leggie and family. :-D

my last 3 moves resulted in me having 24 hours in bed a few days after moving. the main reason that i,ll stay put unless all i have to do is drive to a new house. wanted to end my days where it started back in the town but could not face a move again.

Got told by the landlord in January that he was selling the house. No one from any estate agents has been to the house...the house isn't up for sale.
We think he just wants us out so he can up the rent astronomically...which he can't do to us.

Its a absolute honour and a privilege to have Princess Jess spend her valuable time here with us. Very excited to be bowing down to her every command. But what he doesn’t know yet is he aint getting her back not a chance of that happening. She told me last time I seen her to " get her away from this mad Starmer lover ". shock: bbolt

In November he put us on a 6 month lease which we found strange because we'd always been on a 12 month tenancy. When he told us in January about selling he then said when the tenancy ends in April we will then be put on a month to month tenancy.
When we finally found a house I gave him the required 4 weeks notice when we got the moving in date which is today's date 4th April.
He then got back to me and told me my moving out date would be 4th May due to the rolling monthly tenancy!!! So basically he was saying I had to pay another month's rent and utilities on a house I wouldn't even be living in even though I had given him the required 4 weeks notice!!!
We went to Citizens Advice and they came back with the bad news that he was right but they added most 'decent' landlords wouldn't do that.

Aye that is right about the rolling monthly contract, shame.
You'll have to pay 2 lots of council tax for this month.
Who is your landlord?

Regarding the council tax my brother had the same situation a couple of years and you are spot on Stocksfield_Poolie. But he went down to the council offices after he moved to the new house and said look I cant afford to pay both and why should I its totally unfair. They agreed because he had no arrears under his name so wrote off the one month from his previous address. So may well be worth trying Mutters.

Your brother did well there Leggie, was it Hartlepool Borough Council?

My dealings with council tax and Councils ain't nothing to brag about.

Got chased for 11k trying to sell a house which was empty and for some reason would not sell, council charged double council tax!
Then when I rented the house out, tenants moved before the end of their notice, so they legally owed up till the end of the month but the council wanted 9 days worth from me!

Good luck Mutley in sorting the council tax out!

Another I know about is a girl left Hartlepool to go to Leeds University and agreed with her landlord a one off payment to finish the lease early. Some 12 months later or so her mother got a Hartlepool Council collecter at her door saying your daughter owes 5 months council tax even though she had moved away. But they ssid sorry no one told us so tuff. She proved she had lived in Leeds for the last year and provided a council statement with her name on as proof. They accepted this and again wrote off the bill and its costs.

Does the owner only own this property or does he have multiple properties, if this his sole property is he declaring the rent on his income tax returns ?

If moving house is the most stress you have ever been under then you have had an easy life.

Used to be but too stressful, sold it, one tenant stole my identity and the last tenants left the flat in a shocking state, I paid tax on the rent….. eventually when HMRC asked me to.
