(2 reds, 7 yellows)

Not surprising, look who the Referee was,
only one Rob Styles (now of Premiership fame or infamy)

Must have sent Denny Ingram off for fouling Ian Clark ,
and then booked Clarkie for diving (or being a ginga)
for them both to go in the 88th minute.

And was that our old mate, curly whirly Bill Turley in goal.

I remember it well! Six of us in the Orient stand (free tickets from a lad at work who did some coaching there - funnily enough Orient clamped down on free tickets after that, think we must have been too noisy or something). A refereeing performance of outstanding ineptitude if my (raddled) memory serves me.

E17 Poolie's son spent the whole game listening to his walkman/sleeping.......

It was my first trip to Leyton Orient. Funnily enough the second time I visited Rob Styles was also the ref but he did much better.

In the first game it was one of the worst refereeing performances I ever saw and remember Russel Bradley being quoted as saying to the ref at the end "I'll shake your hand but the was one of the worst performances I have ever seen" and Styles replying by saying "Thank You"

I am pretty sure we weren't any dirtier than Orient but Styles seemed to book our players and not theirs.

I remember that game, can’t believe it’s getting on for ten years ago.

Took the day off work and travelled down there in a mini-bus driven by Stevie Sharp. Arrived in Leyton nice and early and met up with Talbot Avenger who was working down in the smoke at the time.

What a skinfull that was!

Anyway, off to the match (was I stood next to Janick Gers sctatchinghead ) where I had the misfortune to witness the most inept performance I’ve seen from a referee to this day.

Back on the bus, home 3.30/4.00am. Up again at 6.00am. Dragged myself into work, eyes bloodshot, voice gone and head banging, only to be greeted with ridicule from an assortment of Hartlepool’s moronic, plastic premiership supporting scum, all too happy to tell me just where we went wrong.

Happy Days!!!

Nowhere near as bad as this away day to the Orient.......

http://www.inthemadcrowd.co.uk/cgi-bin/ ... p?oid=3656

Driven down in a clapped out Ford Capri, yes a FORD CAPRI, by Mr M Bianco, ex Whitby Street resident, me, him and Mr Harris actually arrived on the outskirts of the smoke about 12ish, but due to said driver’s inability to get round an admittedly large round about near Walthamstow, we got in the ground just after kick off!

The match was dire, we were three down in about fifteen minutes I seem to recall and it pissed it down all match.

This piss poor effort was followed by a dicking by the Arse the following Tuesday

Happy days indeed!

I remember one time at Orient we went three down inside 20 minutes. Some well oiled Poolies turned up about 25 minutes in asking what the score was; "three down" was the reply, only for one of the blokes to announce "FFS I'm going back to boozer" before turning straight back down the exit with about three of his mates in tow rolfl
