Newcastle the better team here. My advice to the gamblers is get a bet on Newcastle to lift this trophy. Longer it's 0-0 the better chance of them winning because Liverpool went to extra time .

Think the fact that Liverpool played 120 minutes and lost on penalties on Tuesday night has a lot to do with it. They look very flat.

Yes and that's what I put above in my post. Having said that Mr. Hogans Newcastle have worked their socks off and limited Liverpool to nothing really. They want it more and they will get it this time I am certain. That long wait for a trophy is about to end I feel. That man Eddie Howe deserves to win something he is for me the best manager in the U.K. taking everything into consideration.

Congratulations to a superb manager and a team full of caring genuine players. This lot are a totally different breed to the Man City Liverpool Arsenal and Manure pretenders very refreshing. How good to see Bruno crying with pride and joy now that's a real caring footballer. Wonder if any yanks are thinking I like that North East passion let's buy Hartlepool and have some of that.

I'm pleased for them. Really enjoyed the match. Fantastic atmosphere.
It's good to see a North East club get amongst the Big Trophies for a change.

Well deserved, better side by miles on the day. Howe is surely the best coach about considering the squad he's got, they're a real team playing above their abilities and scrapping for each other throughout. Thought Joelinton, Burn, and Livramento were outstanding - Salah hardly got a kick.

Just replied to a Geordie friend who was talking about 60 odd years without a trophy. I told him they were amateurs, we can double that wait.

And they've won a league and been to Wembley on many occasions - the lucky buggers don't know the're born!

That said, I'm delighted for them and hope as others have said further up the thread -it indirectly rubs off on us, in helping to attract healthy investment into Pools and the town in general

I like Kettering hoping a " A " lister or wealthy American watched the game liked the atmosphere and thought " hey why don't we look at getting a small club in that area " like those twats that bought Wrexham. Let's buy Pools and built them up and try to out do them Wrexham foookers. Dafter things happen when your born in America and have monopoly money to waste on a football thrill.

Exactly Leggie- Got to be a few Yanks that would happily chuck 5- 10 mil of loose pocket change our way- in return for our adulation and unwavering support.

We're a GIANT sleeper (bit like a sleeping giant without the success of old) that needs waking up, and with a bit of solid investment would take off.

Our town could support a Championship club - if grown correctly. We already have a tidy ground (with room for expansion) and an incredibly loyal fanbase- given our epic lack of success over generations.

When the likes of Yeovil, Burton Albion, Scunthorpe, Doncaster, Peterborough and Rotherham have been in the 2nd tier in the not too distant past- why not Pools. At very least a competitive League 1 side- just like the glory days. of IOR rolf

Cracking match and I’m pleased they won.

The Newcastle player’s really turned up for it and the win was fully deserved.

I'm fairly indifferent to the so called big 3 in the North East- as have never seen any of them as rivals to Pools, having never been in the same league. I would say I like borer the least then Sunlun and then the carTOON army- probably down to Geography.

Though you could argue that the one and only time Pools have ever been bought when not completely in the shite - (Saint Harold selling to IOR) was at the same time as Keegan Fever was rife on Tyneside, and both Sunlun and borer had a massive injection of funds including new stadia.

Now I would never want us to leave the Vic, under any circumstances- and don't see the need given the space around the ground to redevelop, as and when required. But think that the Silverware that the Mags won yesterday can only have a positive effect on the wider North East economy.

OK, as a buy product of that success we might have to put up with a few more carTOON shirts around the town but I would suggest that's less offensive than Manure, Liverpool, Chelski or Spurs.
In fact the likelihood is, it will be the same wagon jumpers, who have once again changed allegiance, as they desperately try and chain themselves to success.

made even worse as they will all have an imaginary relative from the city giving that their reason for a nother club shirt to join their collection.

That said, I'm delighted for them and hope as others have said further up the thread -it indirectly rubs off on us, in helping to attract healthy investment into Pools and the town in general

How…? sctatchinghead it may get some daft lads to buy their shirts, but that’s about it.

At very least a competitive League 1 side- just like the glory days. of IOR rolf

The key word being ‘been’…more a brief visit.

Newcastle wanted it more, simple as that. For Newcastle to win, they had to be on their game, and Liverpool have an off day, that's what happened, with the midfield 3 of Guimares, Joelinton, and Tonali turning in 8/10 performances. When those 3 do that together, they are arguably the best midfield in the Premier League.
