There are to be no more references to anything Oriental. :sweeeet:

Which means this weekends subject matter is going to be a bit thin on the ground doesn't it??

The ones who find optimism and reference to the Orient too repetitive.

I think that's what I mean anyway..... :uhoh: :uhoh:

I would have thought that this week of all weeks that references to the Orient would be most relevant.

The thing is that Kev just doesn't NOTICE things. It's sweet, really. He was still saying that Martin should be given more chances weeks after everyone else had decided to boycott matches.
What he actually thinks about on the terraces, it is intriguing to speculate....new jokes about Dibble's waist line perhaps, or how many people he can reasonably be claimed to have had, something like that. But never the football.
That's why he still thinks his view is relevant from the Orient

Interesting. That used to be someone's signature*. A rare female poster too. Coincidence?

No it must be a coincidence, tho it is a saying I've always been oddly attracted to for some reason.

ps I'm sure you know my computer well enough by now to know it can't do cedillas or circumflexes or indeed signatures!

Yeah, but some people are enthusiastic and some people are just waiting to die.

My thoughts on the terraces are as elusive as butterflies on the sirocco, as light as gossamer in the breeze, as the people I share the terraces with don't generally sit (well you don't sit on the terraces, sitting in football grounds is for the elderly and mentally disturbed, I have noticed that  ) chin cupped in deep contemplation of the nuances of booting a football about. People who do that generally miss the wit and release of being a football fan.

There's a place for that sort of person but it's not really a place I'd like to be in. Football fans LIKE (note capitals, I thought we'd all have some) to think they have an influence on their team's fortunes but they don't really. They're a bit like fleas on a dog. You might expect them, they might show, they might not, and you can do without them most of the time. When they're there they're a bloody nuisance. When they aren't you wonder where they've gone. :sweeeet:

That reminds me: we haven't had any sirocco fall-out here for a couple of years at least. Must be something to do with that communist climate change stuff.

Well, thinking about butterflies on the non-terraces is a very pleasant sort of thing to be doing. But you see my point....some people want to discuss the game, just as some people want to air their dismay that their families can no longer afford tickets. They won't mind at all if you shut up and think about butterflies. What they don't want is for some avuncular lepidopterist to come on and (repeatedly) tell them that none of it matters.

No. :sweeeet:

You didn't....errmmmmm......NOTICE...I think is the in vogue phrase, that I said my thoughts are 'elusive as butterflies....etc etc,' not that they are ABOUT butterflies. I don't really know where we go from here. There appears to be a wavelength problem. I'm on digital and you're on medium wave.

From not being able to afford it, I do know a very vocal protester that was on the chat room us non-attenders use when he discovered Joel WAS on the bench, so he nashed straight along to the ground, thus spending his heard earned on 3/4 of a football match.

We won 4-1 and both Moore and Barker scored. He missed the first two goals.

Funny old world eh?? :sweeeet:

You seem unable to have a debate without being insulting, Kev. If you're talking about the person I think you are, you must be the only person in doubt that he is hard up, and of course you're attempting to make him look silly in the process.

Plainly the difference between us is that if people want to come on the board (a football board) to discuss football, I don't feel the need to patronise them. You may not intend to be patronising but that's how it comes over to me at least. Nothing to do with wavelengths...another attempt to belittle.

No attempt to belittle, I was making light of the situation. Why would I stand on the Millhouse Terrace thinking about butterflies?? Really, why would I??

I have always gently poked fun about ages, hence the digital/medium wave reference. I shan't do it any more OK?? Clearly it hits a nerve.

From my point of view, I consider anyone telling me I don't know what I'm talking about with reference to Pools after 43 years of supporting them purely because I haven't witnessed every second of every performance is holding a masterclass in patronisation.

But rather than make a stupid venomous personal attack I have attempted to drop hints about how I feel about that clothed in humour. This, due to your intervention, is now becoming more difficult.

Kev, really, does it need pointing out that you began the butterfly metaphor? However that was a side-issue which in time-honoured fashion is diverting attention away from the main points.
No-one has said that you don't know what you're talking about re Pools, as you well know. They have said that they'd rather you didn't claim to know better about tactics at matches they have attended and you haven't. As to all the other points I made, it is of little use making them again, probably.
As I've mentioned before, your 'hints clothed in humour' can appear either laborious and/or a bit offensive, but I would hate to think that it was I who spoiled your fun, so ....carry on

Well in the interests of neither being laborious or offensive or patronising or insulting or anything else I stand accused of and possibly have been, I haven't checked, I shall close the subject from my point of view.

But it does strangely seem that no-one else is queuing up to pillory me. :sweeeet:

Kev, I am not pillorying you. I like you. Here is a kiss. x

Can we have a truce now. You are to stop thinking about butterflies on the terraces, telling people that optimism should prevent them talking about football and also rabitting on about how England is dross and China the bees' knees. (Everyone knows both countries are dross, don't they...?)
In return I shall try to stop being on the medium wave and any other irritating habits you care to point out. I'll even stop using capitals if you tell me how to do sodding italics on message boards

But my usual i vanishes when I come on here, as does cut and paste and most of the other little gadgets. Seems to be the price I have to pay for bunkering

All the useful little extra options are immediately above the area you type in your message. Including the i for your italics.
