Don't know if anyone reads the Observer but this week in the music mag they promote our Kate's cover of Rocket Man (on Wogan) as the greatest cover version of all time. Now I'm partial to a bit of Bush myself and I am an unashamed Elton fan (pre Yellow Brick Road) but can this really be true?

Best cover version for me is The Clash doing Every Little Bit Hurts.

Anyway here's the wonder that is La Bush - judge for yourself:

I love Kate Bush, but sorry that is parody. Elton would be turning in his grave, if he was in it.

With a little help from my friend - Joe Cocker. Now that is a good cover version.

A girl who used to sing in the Nursery used to do a lovely version of 'The man with the child in his eyes' and only later did I find out it was a Kate Bush song.KB's own version I didn't think was any like as good as Marie's from the Nursery. This is a case of a cover version in reverse :sweeeet:

I'm a huge fan of the short and curly black box. (Does that make me a racist?)

Yes excellent. And how beautiful is Liz Fraser in that video!
But have you heard Tim Buckley's original version?
Or how about Susheela Raman's cover?
Or even Robert Plant's?
Or even mine!

All very different and all very good. But that's prolly down to the excellence of the song.
What a fabulous marriage of tune and lyrics.

Interesting fact Liz Frazer was once the girlfriend of Jeff Buckley, Tim's son.

Liz Fraser, the actress? She must be in her seventies.

Talking of Buckley - some would argue that Jeff Buckley's cover of Hallelujah is the best cover of all time. It's good but not as good as John Cale's version.

I would never ague with anyone about this mortal coils's version of song to the siren - awesome. Anyone for Joan Baez's cover of Brothers In Arms - no paritcular fan of Knopfler but you can't beat a bit of Baez.

I haven't listened to Radio 1 since about the time that Chris Moyles became the best they had. :sweeeet:
