Woking council spent £5.5 million on a mini roundabout revamp. It consists of painting leaves of various colours all over the tarmac road plus some other bits and pieces of repairs. Who are these morons who pass this crap and how can anyone think £5.5 million is good value. I reckon a group of University art students could easily complete that crap paint job in under a week if the council provides the tools and closes the road. If that contract was offered to a local family run small business it surely would be no more than a few grand. It's got brown envelopes written all over it and thats just one little job in one town of the U.K. banghead

like the ones in boston who have voted to give themselves a pay rise over 400%. they are experts on stuff like that and wasting money most of us hate paying.

The roundabout is in Wokingham, Berkshire. I used to live just along the road from it. It was 2 mini roundabouts close to each other and therefore difficult to get around when busy. It was reconstructed as a live experiment to allow pedestrians to cross safely. They have done so.. it is car drivers complaining.

If you want to hear about wastes of money, I moved from Wokingham to Woking when I got married. The Council here invested in building a shopping centre and a hotel above it. The debt is £2billion, interest £60m per year and income of £15m. The town is f*cked.

Councillors, Council Chiefs and money…a toxic combination. :angry-screaming:
