Whitehall closed to traffic because hundreds of tractors have blocked the road after parking the tractors in both lanes...Wonder if Starmer instructs the traffic wardens to give them a ticket.

Let’s see the bigger picture with farmers.
Governments all over Europe via the EU are picking fights with farmers.
The Dutch farmers are leading the way, Belgian and French farmers are basically rioting and the idea is cutting back farmers in numbers.
Why? …. We…..the EU are in talks with a group of South American countries to import their food into Europe, which fails to meet European food standards and can undercut European farmers.
I suspect Starmer will have us back in the EU eventually and following the same policy but by a self serving back door of taxation, the resultant outcome will however be the same as it is across Europe, the elimination of farming……we’ll need all those fields to ‘plant’ solar panels and wind turbines to house Mad Millibands Net Zero target.

How green would that be? Emma Maersk one of the world's biggest container ships burns about 84,000 gallons of fuel per day and would take around 18 days from Brazil to the UK. That's over 1.5 million gallons but they want us out of our cars! And marine fuels are not as clean as our petrol and diesel fuels.

I've just read that the government have drawn up contingency plans if the farmers start to go on strike in a big way.

But this is just daft!! It will cost loads more than the proposed tax changes might raise and what for? And cost us (food buyers) too, Just so the government can look big and tough?

Why don't they just tweak this idea a bit?

he is a typical larger than life person like boris johnson where with all their words and bluster they really say nothing but plenty of the general public are drawn to this type of fraud.

Starmer has set off in a bad way IMO. Taking away the winter fuel payments to nearly all instead of means testing, and picking a fight with the farmers have been unforced errors, but on writing that, I'll never forget Johnson lying about the lockdown parties.

I can't stand people who lie, especially a Prime bloody minister.

Whilst there are some farmers struggling looking at the tractors which cost in excess of £50000+ the ones in London yesterday can’t be. From my memories of my younger days the farming community always had decent cars.

Fact is all European farmers are under the cosh and on the alter because of the South American deal the EU is after for cheaper food……Has Starmer decided to rejoin and just getting on the bandwagon….?
Funny how the really big land owners who grow nothing on the land and worth mega bucks remain untouched.

Farmers are not all the same. Some get virtually nothing working 24/7 on some isolated sheep farm and then some are loaded running something similar to a theme park.
