What happened last night…? …..only saying so because one of the dogs wanted to go out at 2.08 and it seemed ok, well for the time it took him to do his ‘business’. :animals-dogrun:

True and the weather conditions will suit Tamworth's style. If the game isnt postponed it'll be a home loss.

good thing if it is called off. at least then we,ll know our opponents for the next round and that might be a good reason to give it a real go when the game is played.

Typical only a few years ago we won award for the pitch now described by the Barnet manager as the worst in the league, Same groundsman but not given the money he needs to maintain it by a Scrooge like chairman.

If the ball goes up in the air, it’ll come down in Denmark given the wind direction.

He gets bashed continually because the club has been a total mess, a year ago we were told the takeover was nonsense, low and behold its coming out it wasnt, a year ago a lot of us said the pitch wasnt up to standard, now we have managers of piss poor clubs backing it up, today we get called off sonething that never ever really happened here in about 35 years of following pools, yet other clubs are still on. The club has been run down damn right this guy should bare the brunt.

But the match hasn't been postponed on the state of the pitch has it? It's been postponed on the fact that there's horrendous weather coming, doubt Raj can influence the weather.
And there's been plenty of times in the past when our games have been on or off when close neighbouring games have been the opposite.

Horrendous weather must be avoiding stockton york and harrogate then.

It's the referees call, maybe the officials are all soft suites who didn't fancy it? Gateshead off btw even though they're in the middle of a tropical heatwave.

It is absolutely ridiculous to infer that Raj Singh was instrumental in the postponement of today's game. The pitch will have been saturated, would have cut up badly and consequently damaged for the rest of the season. The attendance would have been minimal and the game an absolute farce. The referee was 100% correct to call it off - I cannot see any benefit to either club, the players or the fans in it proceeding under today's conditions.

Stockton, York and Harrogate are all inland towns - best check your satnav.

Agree, I was seriously thinking of giving it a swerve if it had been on.
Fact is that of 4 games within 30 miles only 1 is on, regardless of what's happening 60 odd miles away at York or Harrogate.
Everton game called off but so far Man City 35 mile away is on.

It’s absolute shit here…this is Hartlepool not York or Harrogate.
The eye of the storm will be passing over and the wind then from a southerly direction and therefore coming up the coast directly over open sea….unfortunately Hartlepool sticks out into the sea whereas York and Harrogate don’t.

Memories are strange things aren't they? I can remember the pitch being a real soggy mess in recent years, anyone there to see Boyd against Sheff Wed, or the game where we played for a couple of minutes went off the pitch then came out again later but it was then called off, or the track around the pitch being a couple of inches deep in water, or the linesmen running on the pitch because the sideline was swamp like? Lots of games played back in the day wouldn't have been played nowadays due to changing attitudes towards player and fan safety.
I'm sure the club installed new drainage only 5 years or so ago so investment on that area has been made.
Weather is looking OK for Tuesday night though.

No one has said that you did say that, but as they did say the inference was that the match was off because the club is run down and that matches in the past 35 years haven't been called off. The actuality is that the pitch had significant investment in new drainage only a few years ago, and according to the official site the ref deemed the pitch playable but the forecast weather meant the game should be off.

was called in a few times on saturday mornings to check north west county games. its not exactly how it is at 10am its how it will be at the end of the game. you need a detailed weather forecast for the next few hours when making a decision. heavy rain forecast on a wet pitch then call it off. no rain but strong winds forcasted on a dodgy pitch 5 hours before ko then give it a go. never had one complaint from the decisions i made which made a change. if in doubt there is always another day to play the game. its not life or death but a wrong decision could lead to a player getting injured.

Nothing to do with the pitch really, the weather was truly horrific, bins flying everywhere, bits of building in the middle of Church Street, trees and fences down, A66 shut to all traffic etc. A689 also shut by Greatham due to debris. It was very clear what was coming and it was dangerous for anyone to travel. I don’t even know why a pitch inspection was needed.

true, and how many of yesterdays games were postponed only because of the pitch.

Happy with yesterday's postponement both for fan safety and for a better chance of progression. Tamworth are a lump it in the box team and have long throws too, the storm would've made it a perfect game for them. Hopefully we can play more of our game on Tuesday

If we played yesterday it would have been a travesty.

Tamworths staff and especially fans might disagree.
Have ya ever put the effort in to travel away and the game gets pulled 2 hours before kick off.

Only happened to me once.
Peterborough in 1990 which resulted in a mass brawl cowboy fight in a city centre pub.

Them were the days :angry-tappingfoot:
Anyone else go to that non game?
