I know we had a clear lead maybe it was 11 or 12 but not 15.

Thought he was a right d*ckhead as a player and commentator - but respect to him for what he is doing now.

Weren't we about 4 pts clear when Newell took over, then we extended it to 12 / 14 before royally screwing it up? Memory may be wrong though.

I think I remember Scunthorpe away to get promoted and we got smashed about 5-1?

Lost 4 nil
Players got booed off
Tommy Widdrington was wanting to fight the entire away end
Only Pools could fuck things up, so spectacularly!
The bus should have drove itself banghead

Always a dour unsmiling man was Newell…remember going down to Rushden and the seas ended on a thohoroughly depressing note, even though we got promoted.
Mind you, we had our revenge next season when they went down and we beat them down there with that keeper tackling goal from Boydy.

They were bought in Oct 2020 ago by a local millionaire and are 2 levells above where they were relegated to. So they could in theory be back at NL level for the 27/28 season. But they're guaranteed nothing, has any Phoenix club ever got back to their previous level in the last 20 years or so if ever?

in theory there is nothing to stop any of them doing it apart from wimbledon, but after the original drive up the leagues with extra new fans they reach a stage they can never push on from and the gates end up similar to the ones when they got into trouble.
