Or we just taking the cheap option and keeping Old Len in charge, after all he has overseen a 'resurgence' according to the mail----only in Hartlepool would 5 points from 3 games against teams no further up than halfway be seen as something to shout about......we really do embrace mediocrity as magnificence.

Defeat at York next week which is likely, a few points here and there before xmas and Raj will wait until the season is well and truly over before thinking of appointing someone he can then get shot of at season end before probation period is up.

I think if no one is appointed by tea time tomorrow it will be uncle Lennie and Fevs in charge, which tbh, I'd be ok with.
Of all the people I've heard mentioned the only one who really grabs me is the bloke from Sunderland, Graham Murty. If he doesn't get it I'm quite happy with Lennie taking charge. Lennie Lawrence has a wealth of experience at the top level, he's still got his marbles and I'm sure he's got the respect of the players.
Lennie and Fevs until the end of the season isn't too bad an option.

That points return ain't no Resurgence..
Novembers games will give us a better indicator to what's coming.

Lets see how we get on against one of the better teams before we claim we are turning a corner, last home game was a positive step, but york will be much tougher.

we are predictable by taking an age to appoint someone and then getting it wrong. might as well put all the names in a hat and draw one out the same day as the previous one left the building or actually ask him for a recommendation who should replace him.

looking at our Christmas, (I’d say brutal), run in and holiday fixtures let Lennie take the flak or praise into the New Year.

York 1st (a)
Barnet 3rd (h)
Gateshead 4th (a)
Oldham 5th (h)
Yeovil 7th (h)
S Moors 8th (a)

Eastleigh 11th (h)
Southend 14th (a)
Fylde 20th (h).

LL till the end of the season, Pools can’t afford to appoint another manager then pay compo once they sack him again. If Pools start to slip into the relegation zone Ronnie Moore to step up to perform another great escape.

I have heard from a reliable source the only one interviewed so far is Paul Simpson and he didn’t particularly impress. The only other name mentioned was David Unsworth.

If that’s the best we can come up with I’d rather have Lenny and Featherstone in charge for the rest of the season…

I hope your source is wrong... If we've only managed to interview 1 candidate in 3 weeks somethings gone horribly wrong. Also think Paul Simpson suggests we're looking at the same as has come before and therefore no lessons have been learned.

know we should not class anyone as being failures before they take the job up but names of failures like them do not give me much hope for the future.

I'd rather we picked someone out the crowd than get Unsworth in! Simpson doesn't exactly inspire me either. Unless we are getting another sides manager then there's not much going to choose from.

Pools will have a budget for the manager salary like any other job - Managers will apply hoping for more - Lower league managers will apply hoping for the clout on their CV if it come off. Then there is the managers out of work whom we know may fall within our salary bracket and we approach them - its obvious now given those names where we sit. Not ideal at all. We can only hope for another DC tbh. Id love some young hungry duo to step in and really take us through the leagues like Lincoln had that time with the Cowley brothers and Salford had with their management duo. Who ever we get - we really are at this stage going to be disappointing and scratching our heads as to why i think ! The new manager stepping in (if hes a lower league journeyman type) will have the pressure on his shoulders even more and tbh id hate to be in his position atm because we have heard all the shite before - hes going to come in with the fans on his back already i can see it now,
.

At our level there is a revolving door of managers going from one club to another after being sacked. Very few last much more than two or three seasons and even after a success they get dumped the next season when they are unsuccessful i.e Simpson.

The complete lack of communiction with the fans is as scandalous as it is typical.

2,000+ of us mugs already committed to heading to York on Saturday, why on earth would anybody at Raj Towers think a short update was worth posting?

Whole thing stinks, just drifting along and fans treated with contempt communication wise

I don’t dislike Lawrence but if he’s being kept cos he is cheap that’s the wrong reason.

Unsworth was a massive failure with oldham and Simpson a 1 club man success wise, would be like tubby turner going to Stockport….that didn’t work out so well I recall.

We are like a ghost ship at the moment , very depressing

Whilst not advocating Simpson for the job I would point out to LF is that he has been appointed manager at Rochdale,Carlisle twice,Preston,Shrewsbury,Stockport, plus coaching at Newcastle and being in charge of England under 20s when the won the World Championship. He must have something for all these teams to appoint him or is he a Raj type cheap option. As I keep saying he is just typical lower league manager.

My take on the current silence is that the applicants who are rumoured to have shown interest in the Pools job to date have not been of the quality anticipated by the owner, board - and consequently would not be appreciated by the fans which is of course of some significance. That said, I’m not sure what each party realistically expects given Pools current position, recent history and doubtless the salary on offer.

My guess is that Raj will bide his time to a) allow further applicants to step forward and b) to see what impact Lenny has on the game against realistic promotion chasers York City on Saturday. I for one expect nothing more than a damage-limited 0-2 defeat at best but if Lenny can lead his troops to a point or even more then I think that would make the difference in him continuing for the rest of the season. Conversely, this fixture would represent a very difficult task for any new boss as opposed to his being appointed prior to next weeks slightly less challenging home game vs Eastleigh.

I've been having a mooch on the Sunderland forum and they reckon Murty has turned down an offer to speak to us.

Makes sense.
Why on earth would he want to leave a club that has a good chance of being premiership next season.

Easy job coaching the kids or hard job managing a bunch of manager sackers.

No brainer.

Raj pays a manager circa £40k a year, how much is he going to pay a Head Coach? It won't be anywhere near that so expect a coach without experience and this being his first job. I think it will be very hard to get someone who will be paid peanuts to work under Lenny the Lion. Are we going from Chimp to Chump?

I don't know much about wages at our level but isn't that quite low for a manager? I think when we were in league 2 the average manager salary was something around £75-80k, is it really that much lower in the national league??

Believe it or believe not, I worked very closely with Yogi when he was Gaffer and that was what he was paid by IOR. We have never been big payers except when Knowles and Murray where in charge and that was £50k.

I don't doubt you I was just a bit shocked about the drop off in wages between league 2 and the national league! Yogi was our manager 11 years ago though and wages have changed a lot since then but I guess he was in league 1.

Just noticed on odds checker we are 150/1 for promtion through the play offs. Could be worth a bet especially if win at York which i think we will no matter who is in charge.

Neal Ardley would be a good fit for us but Lennie and money could be a problem.

he might but could just as easily fail. its a gamble for every club signing a new manager with more than a slice of luck involved. none are magicians but some fit certain clubs better than others and it doesn,t take too long to find out we have employed a wrong un again.
