If they reach it , that will be akin to a football team winning 5-4 after been 4-0 down with a minute to go. It will become the stuff of legend , as will Boris's 5 goals and Hancocks 5 assists.

Of course the ref will come under intense scrutiny for playing an extra 15 minutes of injury time and awarding 5 penalties to the winners

Even if they don't reach it, people will just say that the high target motivated them to get more testing capacity available than an otherwise lower target would have. "Aim for 100,000 and getting 50,000 is better than aiming for 40,000 and getting 40,000" is the type of bollocks I've seen on twitter already. It's amazing the lengths people will go to to defend this incompetent government.

They should get Patel to announce the figures, it would be at least 43,647,228,950 by today.

Sorry that is bollocks and no way has this target drove the manufacturers to speed up the process of producing the kits and machines, the deal toll has and from day one the production capacity has been trying to be increased day on day. This has nothing to do with government targets just human nature to help. I know I work for the major one as the specialist in sample preparation.

How can I answer that I am not working in every lab in the country? Also of course some people will be tested more than once or even three times if they work on the front line.

What I do know is the number of extraction machines that are in use and have been purchased from our company in the UK and its a hell of a lot. More than any other country in EMEA

Honestly can't tell if you're agreeing with me or not here.
