Coronavirus v the Tetley Bittermen

There was a sign. They did their best.
‘The Charles Bronson Arms is shut’
The Bittermen kicked down the door.
‘Coronavirus can get fucked.
It’s yellow and it tastes like piss.
There’s nowt about it can inspire us
There’s none of that Corona here.
Bradford’s the home of Tetleyvirus!’
The Bittermen supped twenty pints
And ate their weight in Radford’s pies
A toast to Boris followed soon
Abuse for experts spreading lies
And when a few short weeks had passed
They paid the price for what they’d done
The final score in Bradford town was

Tetleys 0, Corona 1

you are spot on with this. being in this generation it could be more about knowing you might not have too long to go anyway. then there is the other thought that death is not the worst thing that may happen to you. thats a bloody care home.

No one can blame the passengers on the tubes.
Surely that's down to the senior management/government who haven't shut the network down yet.

80+ year old neighbour has respiratory problems & has to use an oxygen cylinder. Last Sunday her son came to visit her & he was back again today - but at least this time he stood at the gate with a cup of tea/coffee, whereas last week he went into the house. Mr. neighbour has regularly been going out twice a day in his car; his first trip is to the newsagent for his morning paper.

Resident over the road, in her 70's, also been out regularly in her car this week, & saw her out walking one day with a child who I think was her grand-daughter !

Unbelievable !!

well thats the question did she get out?

if shes in her 70's shes high risk, the government of her country are telling her to stay indoors or she could die, whats worse being bored for a few weeks or dying?

The lass next door has her mam and brother over daily, which totally defeats the object of what we are told to defeat the spread.

WTF

It’s alright he’d turned the car heaters up to full and gave her a bottle of Vodka so he was taking no chances.

It’s like this virus is World wide conspiracy to weed out idiots. Unfortunately one of those is running the gaff where they are set to have more cases than anywhere else in the World. Good to see Trump tweeting out his TV ratings yesterday as people were dying on his watch. He takes narcissism to different planet.

I find it barely believable that flights are still crossing the Atlantic. I read yesterday from someone who was on a flight from New York to Heathrow, no social distancing is taking place the flight was full so people were sat right next to each other in economy. You’d have thought at the very least capacity would be reduced so people can space out? Then on arrival people are dispersing onto people transport unchecked. It’s crazy. We have had one death here (recently on Saturday) but the airport has been closed completely for inbound passengers to Qatar for over two weeks and schools shut for three weeks. Surely all movement between countries has to stopped immediately how can you have people on lockdown yet have people traveling thousands of miles on crowded planes from the worst effected area in the US entering the UK unchecked? You dread to think what is coming over the next weeks and months.

Once the whole Covid situation is all over there will have been many mistakes to be learned from globally.

Imagine back in December, the World Health Organisation had the authority to shut down Chinese borders, or even borders globally. Imagine they were then able to demand that nations begin immediately researching the virus and work towards a vaccine. Imagine instead of blaming other nations, we all worked together and put the same set of simple restrictions in place.

No chance is there?!

Zero.

People like Trump and our racist gutter press would rather point fingers and deflect attention from errors that have been made.

If wasn’t so appalling the Sunday Mail suggesting that Johnson probably got the virus off Michel Barnier it would be hilarious, the bloke was on live TV a couple of weeks ago bumbling on about still shaking hands but he’d be alright if he washed them!!

agree, complete nnesence. if you can run a country from your home then there is no need to travel. afraid by now if you are not in your home country then for me its tough shit. not as tough a shit as for anyone who dies of the virus.

This is from today, it is absolutely staggering. We are getting our temperatures taken going into the supermarket here yet people are going through Heathrow Airport unchecked straight onto public transport or other flights all over the UK;

Heathrow arrivals today.
Rome. 11
Paris. 12
Madrid. 13
Hong Kong. 5
Singapore. 23
New York. 10
Los Angeles. 7

No testing. Public transport in London is open and running.

See the problem?

Anyone returning from Madrid and especially New York should be ushered straight into isolation through a special tunnel.
If the New York figures were separated from the rest of the US, they'd be the 6th most hit in the world, just after Germany. Staggering.

What I don’t get is why the UK and US are doing it different to everywhere else?

One of the lads who we play 5 a side with is Italian he flew back here from home three weeks ago and was put into 14 days of quarantine in government accommodation, he did a tour in the WhatsApp group it was a quite nice apartment! But he couldn’t go out people went shopping for him, meals were brought to him. Then they banned arrivals from certain countries then they shut the airport for arrivals altogether. Yet three weeks later thousands of people are walking through and out of Heathrow unchecked from all over the World.

I’m not sure if you have to be an expert on global pandemics, a medical genius, or above the age of 12 to answer that question sensibly.

Take New York for example where they are knocking up containers as makeshift morgues on the street, where all those flights landed from at Heathrow today and people got off and dispersed unchecked all over the UK. Where those in economy had sat right next to someone for 6 hours. Surely it would be better to keep people where they are in the World for a period of time rather than that? If you are still abroad now given what is going on you are either an idiot or your repatriation can wait a while we ride this out?

I heard Raab on ITV earlier talking about extra flights and propping up airlines to get people home. They are telling people on one hand to not go for jog too far from home they are and then trying to move thousands of people thousands of miles from all over the World from some of the worst affected regions then not even checking if they have a temperature on arrival.

Isn’t that a bit fucking stupid? Criminally negligent almost unless the UK and US still think privately that the global reaction to this is over the top which if that is the case I hope they’re right.

No one is capable of stoping it only us not spreading it and that is working as infections are slowing. The issue is will a second spike happen when things are relaxed? We have to know that probably 60-70 off us will get it just we need to not flood the nhs. Current update on diagnostic testing is that a lot more being received however we are seeing the spike as well so we have to moved the products and share them around it’s like playing chess

The figures are starting to nosedive here. I only hope it lasts.
Yes we have the 2nd most cases in the world but the number of new cases is now at its lowest for 13 days, deaths are down, and recoveries are up. Italy, with a head start, was much the same at this stage of quarantine and has since progressed even further.
Let's hope the UK follows the same trend. Unfortunately you are a 9 days behind us, but on the upside, BJ & Co. can see exactly what's working and what isn't.

The figures are starting to nosedive here. I only hope it lasts.
