Everybody,

Just a little advert to plug a sportsmans dinner in town, it's for charity mate and organised by the kids. As the title says it's John McGovern at Mayfield Park, Easington Road, Hartlepool on Thursday 8th November. In attendance will also be Mr Danny Wilson and a small smattering of current Pools players. Details are below......

*****

Organised by a group of upper sixth students at English Martyrs School & Sixth Form College, an evening with John McGovern will raise the profile of the schools trip to the Gambia to raise much needed funds for Bikes4Africa. Students are being supported in their endeavour by mentor, Tracy Skinner of Dialogue Event Solutions.

John McGovern was born in Montrose, Scotland and moved with his family to Hartlepool at the age of seven. Educated at Henry Smith’s Grammar School where rugby was the only accepted sport, John discovered football during the school holidays spent at his grandmother’s back in Scotland and fell in love with the game.

Back at school, his Headmaster was not impressed with John’s new passion and gave him a severe dressing down on a number of occasions but despite this, and his late introduction to football at the age of fifteen, John McGovern became the youngest player to play in all four divisions of the Football League by the time he was 19 and was to go on a play over 500 league games during his career.

During his playing career he won promotion with Hartlepool United, Derby County and Nottingham Forest, and he also won two Scottish Under Twenty Three caps.

After winning a League Championship medal at Derby County, John went on to be Captain of Nottingham Forest where he won the League Championship again along with two League Cups and two European Cups.

Tickets cost £25 each or £300 for a table of 12 and include 3-course meal and entertainment.
To purchase tickets please call 01429 233903 or email bikes4africa@dialogue-es.com.

Alternatively, if you PM me with the number of tickets you'd like and your contact details, I'll sort them out on receipt of payment, paypal, cheque or cash.
