Granted 'diabolical' is probably a bit harsh but personally speaking I did think we were 'awful' today. Walsall were not a good team but we made them look good. Our distribution was terrible.

There is no way you can really say that we were 'average' today, no way at all. Our 'average' is much much better than that. Even our so-called best players, Brown, Liddle, Monky, Boland were all poor today so how you can say we were average defies belief to be honest. Pretty much every one of our players had a bad game today apart from the keeper.

Are we back to the argument that "people who have never played the game or studied the technical side of it" are not allowed opinions again?

Jesus wept.

nah, we play better against teams that also play football rather than those who come to defend and try and catch us on the break, at the minute we are struggling to break these kind of teams down, but fair play to them as it shows that they have done their homework

I think parmo got this right a fortnight ago. Swindon, like Walsall, know us and know what we are capable of us. So they both took steps to neutralise our strengths. The majority of teams in this division won't be so cautious. They'll think "sod it, it's Hartlepool. We can beat these". Those are the teams we can dominate and, more often than not, beat. Oldham and Doncaster, both fancied teams, came here and attacked us and got a surprise when they found we were better than them when given space. Leyton Orient, given confidence by good early-season form, got the shock of their lives when they couldn't get the ball off us for an hour and were given a lesson. Even Leeds, though they got the result, will be a lot more wary of us when we next meet.

I think Carlisle will give us an open game, and I think that should be to our advantage not theirs.

The thing is with that...what will happen during the second time play them?

We need to learn how to play against teams like that...

put it this way if i had only gone to watch pools when they had a realistic chance of winning the league i would have attended no games at all for about 36 of the 38 seasons i have been watching them.

16 of the 20 teams in the premiership have absolutely no chance whatsoever of winning the title and havent done for the last 6 or 7 seven seasons, but people still go.

pools have never ever had a realistic chance of winning the f.a. cup but people still go to cup games, 10,000 went to sunderland.

its not all about finishing first its about supporting your team.

i know you have money on pools to win the league muttley, fair play to you, i hope you collect, but the odds of 33/1 were about right.

I know where you are coming from but I still think we have as much chance as everyone else to win this League!!!! :sweeeet:

I suppose Scunthorpe had 'no chance' this time last season? It's very rare you can pick a winner of the bottom three divisions this early, only the Premiership is dull and predictable. We have shown that on our day we are as good as anyone in this league, it isn't like the last time we went up when QPR and Plymouth were well ahead of everyone else and we had several weak links.

Would you have said this time last season we would narrowly miss out on winning the league after we had been gubbed by Shrewsbury or after we lost at home to Barnet?

Exactly.

And as a team they played poorly.

But there's a chance to put that right tonight.

Let's hope they all take it.

that Jermaine Pendant is rubbish. He's a peasant, and a pedant. He can't even hang his pennant. He should serve his pennance. In Penzance.

I can see you have a penchant for this sort of humour.
