I don't think I've ever read a more depressed and negative prediction thread. Jesus lads the season is only 7 games old.

I hope Bossu plays! Even Michael Proctor scored twice against him for us!

Yeah he's a clown is Berti Bossu.

I want to take exception with a couple of the comments on that thread, the ones who say "we where better than them last season". I know they won the league, but we started the season under a transfer embargo as they got off to flyer. After we signed the likes of Liddle, Boland, Monkhouse, Barker, and stuck Browny on the wing we where the best team in that league by miles as our points tally in the last 30 games suggested. If we had started the season with our best eleven available we'd have broken records in the fourth division.

I take your point but over 46 games they did better than we did. They got the trophy we didn't. That makes them better in my book.

Look at us now though, and look at how average we made them look at the the Vic. Over 46 games yes they where the better team, but with our best eleven against Walsalls best eleven we where a better team man for man.

As Mr. Reid said they're a wounded dog and they can bite us if we're not careful.

However, if we keep kicking the dog then it will fall on it's side and roll over.

I hope for the best but fear the worst. I just hope we play like we did last week.

That pretty much sums up supporting lower league football. We know that our results will often shock us in both good and bad ways.

Between August and May Walsall were the best side in League Two becasue they got more points than anyone else. That's why they deservedly won the league; you'll get no argument from me on that. But after a wretched start we were peerless from November to April. That doesn't win you anything but it convinces me that we entered this season as the best of the promoted sides.

Fair point John but unfortunately the season doesn't run from August to May.

From November onwards we were head and shoulders above any team in that division, arguable we were that much better for the whole season but just never showed it. We should have won the league and probably should have won it by some margin had it not been for that awful start. To go full circle, Walsall did win more points for the whole season so they were better overall.

I think the gap between the sides is considerable now. We strengthened in the summer whilst they weakened. I genuinely hope they stay up by I fear for them.
