they do nowt anyway

especially after watching panorama and reading this board -they do nowt anyway and when they do they bsalls it up ..,, see 'a possible example' below

just suppose I could put acorss a 'hypothetcial' situation where as the detectives had been following someone in order to trap a prom nom and had a chance to get the armed dangerous prom nom on a certain day

allegedly the local uniform police may have got wind that this prom nom may have been around so they may have done an armed swoop the night before and he wasn't there and they then allegedly blew it for the detectives to arrest this prom nom - a communication breakdown here i think you could call it

uniform - egg on faces and no result
tecs - angry and no result
mad silly boy with gun on the run - on the run still

Er... the point being made by the coppers was how much time they do waste on paperwork, that was the whole point. But in a police 'service' apparently run by 'fast tracked' social sciences graduates, we shouldn't really be surprised should we? yawn1

Perhaps the paperwork is related to accountability?

In the old days, in Z Cars, when police things really worked, paperwork was just a battered old ledger that perpetually slipped the desk constable' s mind. No episode was complete without Sgt Twentyman saying exasperatedly, "The BOOK, Sweet. Get the BOOK."

Back in the day eh?

It's a fact of life that we don't trust professionals any more (not that I'm saying the police are professionals) and accountability measures are a fact of life in most workplaces. With these measures, paperwork is inevitable. In the case of the police, it's no bad thing. Given the police abuses uncovered in the 70s and 80s, perhaps it's a good thing that they have to account for their powers.

On a totally unrelated topic, Mr Marx, can you tell me whether it's true you can't be had for libel so long as the 'subject's' name is not mentioned?

If the subject is easily identifiable, the libel is still actionable.

Is that question in relation to a Chairman of a 'large' Yorkshire football team by any chance?

there comes a time when a comedian has to stop doing religious gags and become a football club chairman.

Even after he is dead?

Didn't Brian Clough say the best boardroom contained two Directors, one dead another dying.

aah, it all makes sense now. Two separate blokes with the same name.
I'm off to read some detective novels, that way I'll have all the necessary qualifications to join Scotland Yard.

No problem with accountability....but how much info do you need before the whole thing becomes a complete farce?

Never mind the accountability: get the DNA kit and the tasers out! Image
