Just come back from site on a job I'm working on at the minute- a new monastety near Bylands Abbey.

Coming down the access road there were two nuns heading for a walk in the woods on their lonesome.

If only I was that way inclined

Anyways, apparently one of the old dears is called Sister Josephine and is from Hartlepool.

Any of you lefties know her?

I'm surprised nobody mentioned "Sister Josephine" by the comic songwriting genius Jake Thackray. http://www.jakethackray.com/content/view/102/27/

Ah now you're talking. Sheer genius.

The ONLY songwriter EVER to start a song with the words 'I love a good bum on a woman, it makes my day.....'

christ, aint heard that for years , well not since old Malcolm popped he's clogs anyways....

Malcolm was a stalwart of Saltburn folk club and sang that song just about every week banghead

best bit about his passing was that I didn't have to return all the cd's I borrowed off him!

Jake himself singing Sister J (although unfortunately fragmented by interviews and shit): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TVZvzEXXJPo

Ever since I've been in France I've been trying to think who singer Georges Brassens (a huge French music hero) reminds me of. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XnG_VjVoDAc

Well this thread just gave me the answer. Thank you.
(Though to be fair it is Brassens who inspired Thackray and not vice versa - JT said so himself!)
