everybody has been shite as manager of Mk Donalds, maybe apart from mad dog Allen (who still didn't get them up). Maybe there are too many interfering people behind the scenes, it wouldn't surprise me with that Winkelman gadgy. Even when they were painfully shite in the Championship and League One, the spiel on their official website about how brilliant (but constantly unlucky) they were was embarrassing, but also sinister in "Ministry of Propaganda-style".

also, DW did manage to keep them up for one extra season (o4/05 I think)after they looked doomed. He almost kept them up when we went down the following season. If his hands are untied, as they are now, I think he's showing how well he can really do.

You could also argue it was the FL who kept them up by docking 10 points off Wrexham who would have had two more than them instead of eight less.
Anyway DW was the one that made them look doomed in the first place.
But let's admit your Winky theory is nonetheless plausible. Any others?

Yes. DW's style requires intelligent responses from players :sweeeet:

Maybe 'cos al their cash was being put into this new stadium that they're struggling to fill?? If he was having to beg borrow and steal players and couldn't offer much in the way of wages, he wasn't going to get the best was he?

With us, he seems to have targeted players and Ken has backed his judgement with the money.

I think he's been left to get on with the job in hand at Pools, he quickly spotted what was wrong, sorted it out and perhaps just as importantly, all the players he's brought in 'fit' in with the Pools way of life.

It seems clear from his Bristol City days that he knows a bit about what he's doing, and his McExperience can only really have helped him having seen both sides of the coin as it were.

It would be nonetheless interesting to know...

1) How much money did he spend on bringing players to Bristol City for what return? - I clearly remember that in the season we met them in the play-offs he did some big time spending
2) If he had to do his time there again would he pick Leroy Lita more regularly, because that was one of the fans' biggest bones of contention. Can parallels be drawn with Daly or Moore vs Porter?

Anyway, does anybody have any more MkDonkey theories?

I think there must have been interference from the boardroom at the Dongs. DW likes his teams to play football on the deck. Brizzle did that while he was there and Pools are doing it now. The Dongs were just a physical team.

I know which of these clubs has the best team spirit - definitely Pools. From what I've heard MKDons players did not but bicker - I think it's a massive boost to a manager when you have players who act in a professional way like Pools do clappp

Why is anyone questioning what he done before?

Does it matter?

He is with us now and being successful, so why complain?

Some people are just never happy and have to pick faults with anything.

I don't think anyone is 'picking faults'. It's an interesting point, Danny Wilson has proven to us that he is very capable manager so why wasn't he successful at the plastics dongs?

I'll say one thing, if they had stuck by him I doubt they'd still be in the fourth division now. They fooked up getting rid of him and aren't we grateful for that clappp

I think that thinking I was picking faults is picking faults! Hey this is ME! Mr optimist!!

Of course what Wilson has done before is interesting: it gives us an insight into what we might expect from him in the future and how well he has learnt from any mistakes.

I didn't detect any criticism of DW - I certainly wouldn't dream of it. He is a good manager but sometimes they are put in an impossible position for whatever reason. MK Dons are an entirely different club to Pools - thanks to IOR we have a stable financial position with a sensible chairman, and an excellent playing staff with a great attitude. Also, we possibly have less expectation than MK Dons and Bristol City, until recent seasons anyway.
