I was a dandy and victor man.
We used to knack the beano and hotspur readers.

I once saw someone reading the Daily Mail - honest it's true!

Phil, have you read 'How Football Explains the World' by Franklin Foer. Mostly serious but a good read.
“Presents a tour of the politics and culture of football from Milan to Tehran. This work examines the game's role in sustaining ancient hatreds and rivalries; in supporting the migration of players and the rise of the football oligarchs; and in defending the virtues and vices of old-fashioned nationalism.”
I can pass it on to you at the Orient match if you like.

Will bring the book to the Orient. Don't worry about the Hugh Cornwell book you can pass it on to any other Stranglers / Cornwell fans.
I've read and re-read Deborah Curtis's 'Touching from a Distance' an excellent read and one of my favourites in a gloom / doom laden sort of way. I bet Tony Wilson , Ian Curtis and Martin Hannett are conspiring in heaven to make the angels play 'love will tear us apart' on their harps.

Thanks for the tip - I'll seek it out, I'm a long standing Vic Reeves fan.

Back to the original thread I used to like Topper but also liked the Beano, Viz and the Daily Mirror.

'Touching from a distance' was depressing enough for one read for me.

'Me, Moir' is absolutely superb.

Comics - Beano, Eagle, Battle, Viz.

What the dullest magazine you've seen somebody reading? I saw a Gadgie on the train to Newcastle one night reading, I kid you not, "Air-Conditioning Monthly". clappp rolfl

I used to subscribe to 'Accountancy Age' (at least I think that was what it was called), and read it. When I was pretending to be interested in becoming an Accountant, never made it beyond a MAAT.

Nowt wrong in never getting beyond MAAT - bit worrying that you actually used to read "Accountancy Age" - all I ever read were the few cartoons & the funny article that was always in the back

Comics - Victor, Battle, Warlord (followed by Mayfair, Playboy, Fiesta etc. obviously)

I used to read it, but not sure I ever completely understood it, which explains why I only made it as far as being an 'Accounting Technician', and not making the heady heights of being a 'boring' Accountant. sctatchinghead

It's alright mate I never got the letters - have to make do with being a "QBE" (qualified by experience) as the agencies have it

I used to get 'Computer Weekly' it's not about anything like home computers or gaming or owt remotely interesting, it's about the world of corporate accounting. I used to get it through work.

On the back page it has quite a good pisstake IT department diary allegedly about a local authority in London, a daft column on stupid things that office workers do and a Dilbert cartoon, and it was free. That's my defence.

Beano and Sparky when I was nipper, later 'Shoot' magazine then NME and Q.
