I would go for the following.....seeing as it is fourballs to start with.

Its good to get a big hitter playing with an accurate player.

so:

Karlson/Donald
Monty/Harrington
Olazabal/Garcia
Westwood/Clarke

OOOoh my kind of thread

i think he will put the Irish together to open up, McGinley/Clarke, then he will put his Spanish pair together in Garcia/Olazabal, he will put his two young guns Donald/Westwood out next with the experience of Harrington/Monty to follow up. Tough on Casey after his World Matchplay win so he might sneak in there somewhere but thats who I would go for. Howell would be in there on early season form bu his putting is off at the moment :)

You can't class Casey as inconsistent on the last 6 weeks, he has been outstanding. Howell we agree on, the most interesting thing for me is the American pairings, it's very interesting to me to see who he puts with woods. interesting also will be who goes with Mickleson. The singles is always interesting but I'm not sure everyone will get a run out before then. like i say, very interesting

Hmm a good question. For me you are right in terms of 4balls and 4somes, his singles record is good though. It must be hard for someone who is clearly that much better than the rest to then have to 'put up with' playing alongside an inferior player!

Not surprisingly I disagree. Tell me which Costello songs, apart from Olivers Army, you have heard, how many times you've seen him perform and how much you've read about him and we'll discuss it.

I've played golf, watched golf, have VERY good golfers in my family, have a boss who plays golf( at a good level) and talks about golf 24/7, I've read about golf, lived with golf, made love in bunkers, had golf rammed down my throat...and I think it's for bores. (I made the bit up about bunkers).

You have had golf rammed down your throat, i bet thats not all you've had rammed down there sweet cheeks is it?
on the subject of Elvis Costello, I have seen him twice, my ex thought he was proper bo. I can sing all his songs and if I was thinking of commiting suicide in my car by inhaling poisonous exhaust fumes Declan is the chap i would play. His early stuff was ok i suppose in fact i have a copy of mt aim is true which I use to stop the coffee mug making marks on the table, if your a tart "watching the detectives" is fun and less than zero worth a listen, but only one. enough of this anyway, tell me more about this throat trick you do

I'm not sure we ned to worry about the course designer and that fact that it is an American deisgner is of no concern. The weather is more of a concern as the Yanks are better target golfers and with the greens being very receptive, potentially, they might be swarming all over the flags. However this is counteracted by the length lost off the tee due to fairways not having the run they are used to.

I don't believe the readings are out yet. I would think they will do them of the morning of the first match as they will make a final cut overnight. The longer the better for me, the Americans play on 'crazy golf greens' every week, we need a bit of give for me!!

Probably Charlotte Church, Wendy James and that bird with bigtits who reads the news on GMTV.

We have very good putters in the team mind.

I notice they have also shortened the rough around the greens to give good run off areas, thus making it a bit like links fringes.

This wont help the yanks as almost all of their courses have thick rough surrounding the greens, and are masters at the flop shot.

They will have to think about it a bit more now.

Hmmm, not so sure that the yanks won't like run off and as you pointed out earlier they have dominated links golf of late.

Its woosnam who picks the team mate.

He may well keep the pairings the same for the afternoon for the foursomes.

If they do well in the morning four balls.

My big worry is Woosnam, he is a bit of an oddball. He has not been in touch with any former captains because he wants to do it "his way"

woosnam inspires as much confidence in me as wilson does

europe however have a better team than hartlepool utd, and therefore are more likely to save their coaches skin.....

Faldo has made too many enemies within the game, next captain will likely be either Monty or Ollie

My understanding is that they get to choose their own. I think it comes down to infringing on sponsorship. If they all used one type then the makers of the balls that the other guys use would be well miffed.

I'm pretty sure they only have one tee maker for the tournament though.

Monty/Howell
Garcia/Casey
Olazabal/Clarke
Donald/Harrington

Looking at this mornings practice you might not be too far off. When do the captains name the opening pairings

Thats very true sir, but it was funny.

I think it will be close..............too close to call.

When you have SPORTING LEGENDS like Tiger Woods in your team, playing like he is now, you always have a chance.

Though his match play record is rank.

Still.....................I am soooo excited.

Me too, I can see this one going to the wire, it would not surprise me to see the last 3 or 4 singles games decide it this time

I'll give you my selection for the opening four balls. First Bracca and Foley to acknowledge their performance last night. Then Porter who didn't get the chance but I'm sure would have done OK. For the fourth one I'd have to go for Strachan. I'd have suggested Robbo but it might not be a good idea to leave him on the grass till the end.

Well so far he's used Mansfield, Hartlepool, Stockport, and Rochdale.
He did toy about with Port Vale too but never actually played with them.

I ignored it as it was a blatant thread hijack attept.

Now......stop trying to be in with the in-crowd......and name your pairings.

You KNOW you want to.

To be honest Mr Dibble I do have an interest in the Ryder Cup but due to being too overworked in the last few weeks I'm not even sure who is in the team this time around never mind who will be pairing up with who.

Coupled with the fact that Sky have hijacked the event and I can't watch it on Pauper TV means that I'm distinctly less interested in it than I have been in the past or than I would ideally like to be.
