Another example of our idiotic government

The mother of a soldier who lost both his legs in an explosion in Afghanistan is to challenge his "insulting" compensation award in the High Court.
Lance Bombardier Ben Parkinson, 23, was injured in a landmine explosion last September.

The paratrooper, who will need special medical care for the rest of his life, was awarded £152,150 in compensation.

His mother, Diane Dernie, of Doncaster, described the sum as an insult and said the compensation scheme was flawed.

Her son is reportedly one of the most seriously injured soldiers to survive.

However, the award he received is only slightly more than half the maximum £285,000 which can be given to injured military personnel

why dont our government in this country assist injured soilders and the yanks basicall worship the vetrens. we need to take a long look at our government refyellow

However, I can't agree that the yanks worship their veterans.

Thats about 14 times a mate of mine got for having his leg blown off in the Falklands. He'll also get the new version of the war pension which will be worth about £1400 a month to him plus all the other its and bobs. Sure he'd rather have his legs back but thats obviously not an option.

I have no idea what compensation package US service personal receive, but basing it on the lyrics of a ditty by Mr Springsteen hardly constitute a sound basis before the facts :roll:

it says a female typist for the RAF got £485 grand after suffering repetive strain injury to her thumb rage

No squire it's not the basis, it's just a handy indicator. In the same way as a fair proportion of our 'rough sleepers' are ex -servicemen, the Americans don't take care of their 'veterans' either seemingly regarding them as a bloody nuisance rather than valued contributors to the nations security. Like us they suck 'em in, chew 'em up and spit 'em out.

The Americans recently closed their largest military hospital,which obviously specialised in typical 'war wounds,' shrapnel injuries, gunshot trauma, blast damage etc etc. Oddly enough so did we.......

DON'T I KNOW ....... that's my pet subject and it's worth the money.
My problem with Mr Springsteen is what angle was he coming from :wink:

I think he got involved with the Veterans Association, did some benefit gigs for them and stuff. Don't get me wrong I think he's very over-rated and that's just about all I know about him. I find his music dire.
