I don't know if this is a case of little things please little minds, or if I was just taking the opportunity of a little joy while I could, on the way home on Saturday.

I was driving out along the A689 on Saturday, and had just passed the Burn Rd roundabout, accelerated up to 45/50 in the outside lane, passing the dawdlers doing 30/40, and was followed by another accelerating at a greater pace. My 50 max was obviously not fast enough for him (wonder if it was anyone from here?) so I steadied my speed, continued passing other slower moving traffic, at my own pace, and held him up until after Owton Lodge. After an initial turn of speed away from the roundabout, I settled in at 39, moving inside, and let him have the road. Along with another car that had been chomping at the bit, he flew away, and probably passed the speed camera approaching 60.

Now was it wrong off me to temporarily forget our abysmal performance, and punch the air as they charged away?

I will deny everything by the way if anyone wants to report my 'alleged' speeding.

Why was it a good job?

There's nowt worse than being harangued by tailgaters. The closer they get, the slower I go...

What I like to do is wait until they get really close, then give the brakes a little touch that's held for a second or two. Not enough to slow the car down, but enough to make them think they might plough into the back of me. Usually works.

just squeezing the brake pedal slightly with the foot illuminates the brake lights, without causing you to slow down - so that's also what I tend to do when someone is attempting to pressurise me into going faster.

a good trick when one has one's lights on is to depress the rear fog light switch, resulting in them thinking you have braked.

Alternatively move over bitch.

Switching on the hazard warning lights is even better. At first they think you've braked a couple of times, but then as the lights continue to flash they realise you're taking the piss out of them

It could well have been me.

I was heading for Worksop where I could dump the car and drink to forget................I'd even thrown the HUFC scarf on the floor. Petty I know but I felt better for it. :uhoh: :uhoh: :uhoh:
