Anyone got any decent tips on search engines??

Everything I search for just tries to sell me a book or something else related fractionally to the subject.

I use this to narrow search down - google -
instead of

poolie kev china (455 hits)

I would put in

"poolie kev" + "china" (3 hits)

and then I'd add something else like +"football" (1 hit) or something further you know about the topic

A lot of times when I search for stuff, e.g., "Marshall amps", I get reams of "compare prices on Marshall Amps" pages.
So I type in "Marshall Amps" -compare and it ignores all the results with the word compare in them.

Therefore instead of typing in "Kinky sex whips", Kev mate, try "Kinky sex whips" -book -video

It's hassle I know but there aren't a lot of other ways round it.

I was hoping there'd be less commercialised search engines than Google or Yahoo but it doesn't seem like that's the case so I shall try your ideas forthwith. Ta again.
