Banana Splits was slightly above average.

Banana splits was a bag of complete and utter american shite. The kid's equivalent of Rowan and Martin who thought saying "sock it to me" was the funniest thing since people falling down manholes.
Swap Shop was all right until Tiswas came along and took the wind out of its sails. Tiswas was only kid's show to be so popular among adults it spawned a risqué adult equivalent in OTT.

Tiswas was on yorkshire but not Tyne Tees though so you could only get it if you had a Redifusion telly.
Did anyone see the Tiswas tribute thing the other week,Chris Tarrant said he actually caught Rick Parfitt smoking a joint live on kids TV,so he chucked a bucket of water over him.

Aye but it was Banana Splits that brought Scooby Doo to the UK I think. Some of the other cartoons were class as well.

I used to like R & M, but looking back at it now, it was crap really. But I still liked Henry Gibson's Poems.

Couldn't find one of his Poems, but how about this.

I quite liked Rowan and Martin too. But what's all this Sat am telly stuff? Didn't any of you get yourselves to the Odeon, laden down with bags of sweets, to watch the matinee?

Errr, yes - when I was a kid.
When I watched those TV shows I was already well into my 20s!
