Lee Barrett 7 an ok performance, he never did much wrong but did nothing particularly outstanding either.
Nelson 8 normal service
Atwi 7 Excellent in the first half but went off the boil after their first goal
McCunnie 7 No big mistakes
Elliott 7 as above but some of his link up play was very good

Boland 9 Excellent, he was the driving force behind everything good we did
Liddle 7 quiet by his standards but still a decent performance
Humphreys 3 just plain awful, our weak link yesterday.
Brown 6 had some nice touches but a lot of what he did ended up nowhere

Barker 6 Poor service maybe but did little
Moore 5 Ditto except should definitely have scored at least once

Subs

Sweeney 7 usual decent showing
Porter 8 made a difference when he came in and livened up the attack no end

I'd agree with the back five.

Boland was an 8 for me, he can't last a whole match and was quiet second half
Some of Liddles play was fantastic, 7.5 for me.
Brownie was superb at times, just didn't have the movement around him. I'd rather see him upfront. 7 for me.
Humphreys wasn't a 3 but he was poor. Yesterday was the beginning of the end if you ask me.

Agree with strikers.

Lee Barrett 7 Looke ok to me, but he does need to do something about his very girly haircut.

Nelson 8 very good as usual

Antwi 8 Apart from one moment of hesitation in the 2nd half (which Nels rescued) he looked very good, I feel heartily sorry for Ben Clark.

McCunnie 7 Steady

Elliott 6 generally ok, good 1st touch but some of his passes were a bit iffy, his corners weren't as good as I thought they'd be either (not the short ones)

Boland 9 Totally the best player on the pitch, best I've seen him play, pity he got tired but I'd have replaced him with Ben Clark after his performance there in pre-season

Liddle 8 looked very fit, was all over the park and looked keen as mustard right to the end.

Humphreys 6 Wasn't one of his best games, needs to work on his shooting, but, and this seems to have been missed by most people, at least he WAS prepared to have a shot.

Brown 6 Bags of skill but his physical weakness was exposed time and time again.

Barker 5 Very poor by has standards, looked knackered after 10 mins, maybe it was just TOO hot for him, on a serious note, if he just played in the centre forward position, like a centre forward should, I think he would be more effective, too often yesterday we had no-one in the middle up front and balls were wasted or not put in because of it.

Moore 6 Did a lot of running, showed a few nice touches, looked ok

Subs

Sweeney 6 full of running, nothing against Sweens but as I said earlier I'd have preferred Clark to have come on instead.

Porter 8 looked very good when he came on, played some fantastic balls in at times, should have maybe replaced Barker up front instead though.

Referee 1 and that was for the first 10 mins when he looked ok, then he just got worse and the linesman weren't much better either.

The fans 10 Superb turnout again and in fine voice again.

The verdict, quite a good game against 2 fairly evenly matched sides, with Luton probably just having the edge, scoring 2 goals from nothing really, very nice pitch, shocking ground and a very hot day. I dont have too many worries about our chances this season so long as we can start scoring goals. Disappointed with the result but still enjoyed what I saw.

Interesting to note that most of the negative comments on this board seem to be coming from those that weren't there, now thats not meant to sound like those that were there are any better than those fans that couldn't make the trip, BUT, those that were there know what we were really like, and really we were ok, we just got beat away from home off a decent team who will be there or thereabouts come the end of the season, and before anyone starts saying that we shouldn't be getting beat off teams like that if we want to compete with them, we just have to make sure that teams like Luton don't get anything off us when they play up here.
Cheer up folks, it's only the 1st game, roll on Saturday
