After new years day at Carlisle our only two close-ish away games are at Tranmere and Crewe, every other game is in your 'southern' group

If you fancy a couple of nights in Bournemouth you can fly Newcastle to Southampton for around £63 per person with flybe.

For those of you who are easily frightened by the kind of "omens" so favoured by SkySports, the only two longer seasons we have had - 9934 miles in 1968/69 and 9862 miles in 1993/94 - both ended in relegation

in days when I was more resilient to shite-ness, I travelled every single mile of that wretched 93/94 season, 12 of the teams in the division did the double on us that campaign. What was I thinking about going to Swansea on a Friday night, when they only switched the game from the Saturday three days prior to the match? (Something to do with the rugby, but suited Pools as MacPhail's suspension wouldn't have kicked in until the following week....) - but still, 7 and a half hours to watch a shite team, then straight back afterwards??

It was a fine season, wasn't our relegation confirmed with a narrow 7-0 defeat at Rotherham? The very same season Plymouth where just 6-0 up at HALF TIME against us at the Vic, with the game ending 8-1........

I think you'll find that the Plymouth fans outnumbered the home support that day..................

1974/75.

I was in the Army at Tidworth in Hampshire. I travelled up to Hartlepool on the Friday only to find that the lads were getting the midnight bus to Exeter, so I got on it, wandered around Exeter from 8am to kick off, got beat 1-0, got chased out of a pub, got attacked on the way out after the game, went back to Hartlepool for about 1am and then on the Sunday went back to Tidworth.

About 1500 miles in one weekend for a 1-0 loss and a good kicking.

It's great to be a Poolie.....

Luxury!!!! I travelled to the South Pacific for a first round LDVPaintRover Shield match to see us get beat 1-0 in the last minute against Pitcairn United. It monsooned during the game, and we got swept out to sea by a tidal wave on the way home. Then a shark bit us in half, before we got back on the dinghy. Then we got attacked by natives in boats wi' spears an' that. We didn't get 'ome till three o'clock in the morning. bbolt

That's nowt. I went to see Pools Under 16's in a pre-season friendly on the Faroe Islands. Our 2-man canoe SANK on Dogger Bank, the other bloke died but I swan 1700 miles only to get there late. Missed 3 of the Faroes goals in their 22-0 win and there were NO BURGERS LEFT.

Got filled in by a gang of King Penguins with Stanley Knives, and mauled by a Polar Bear after getting lost on the way home and ending up in Greenland.

Was STILL at work for 6 till two the next day.

You were lucky!!!! We 'ad ter travel ter Mars fer inter-planetary cup, we lost 116-nil, and we were in the open end where there were no oxygen so we all choked to death , and the the only food for sale were fried alien burgers which were right foul-tastin', then t'spaceship brokk down on t'way 'ome and we were forced to land in Antarctica, and we 'ad ter swim all the way' ome, THEN we got mugged by a school of tuna fish, and chased by Orcas and got ate by sharks again. And we were still up for five o'clock for a sixty hour shift at t'mill.
