Well I wrote to the council asking them to review my fixed penalty as I wasnt smoking & have gotten a reply

in responce to your previous post made me very more wairy about throwing my dog-ends out of the car i was going to yesterday in abingdon and a bobby car sped past i held onto it for another couple of seconds then threw it out i would put it in the ash tray but my car for some reason doesnt have one or a lighter rage

Cigarette litter includes tab ends, packets, cellophane wrappers, and inner foil.
A quick look at the web shows figures more like 30–40% of all litter, obtained by sampling sweepings.
It's still a lot.

Regardless of the rights or wrongs in Groovy's case, why do people think cigarette litter is OK but other litter isn't? I'm intrigued.

I've got to admit, when I read the original thread I couldn't understand the fuss, would there have been as much of an outcry if the offending item was an empty tin of coke.

Okay the method of capture is questionable, but littering is littering isn't it?

Don't we pay Council Tax part of which goes to sweep the streets and dispose of rubbish?? :roll:

I seem to remember that Council Tax has increased 100% in ten years, so shouldn't we be twice as good at keeping the place clean as we were in 1997??

And therefore able to deal with discarded tab ends??

Just a thought like......

I don't smoke so I don't throw tab ends down, but I do like a good waNk. Now a lot of people consider wanking in public anti-social, but people only do it because the government don't provide sufficient wanking facilities. Where are the wankers only carriages in a train? Where are the wanking booths at work? Where are the special bins for putting the ejaculate?

So ciiggy ends comprise 79% of street litter does it?
I would suggest that 80% of street litter is caused by the gentlemen who collect the "White bags". Where I live the place is turned into a refuse tip every fortnight.
I bless the fact that we live in the windyest country in Europe because withouit the wind to blow it away we would be burried in it. I would suggest that if they want to make a strong stand then they should start with their own contracters.

On wednesday the announcer at pools reminded everyone that the Vic. was now a no smoking venue. Why? its outside ain't it. Just like designated smoking areas, open on three sides. The bandwagon rolls on.
And before anybody asks - I'm a non smoker of 14 years but smoked for 38 years prior to that. "There's non as devout as the converted" but it don't apply to me. If a person wants to smoke then get on with it.

No. At 15 quid a week per person, someone should be sweeping it up twice a day. :roll:

No. At 15 quid a week per person, someone should be sweeping it up twice a day. :roll:
