This John Terry wage is UNREAL,now I know football wages have gone crazy but come on £135k a week. banghead

I know some will come on here and say if they are bringing success for you then they are worth every penny, but it is MY opinion that not matter what, no footballer is worth £135k a WEEK. refred

It's obscene but no worse than 'fat cats' in industry, local authorities, health authorities etc taking more than a fair share. Does a loaf of bread cost more for them like?

Surely it is about time there was some sort of wage cap and all Sky could give out more money to the lower leagues, at the minute the gulf between the premiershit and the rest is the biggest it has ever been.

in all fairness parmo you cant blame anyone for getting the highest wage possible for what they doing, if anyone is to blame its the employers.

i can see the premiership going like the Italian league with all the high wages etc, bankrupt.

but he obviously thought he wasn't earning enough already............Cloughy would send those types of players down to the shops to buy things - so they knew how much a bag of potatoes cost, and how much of a working man's wage is eaten up by watching overpaid tossers like John Terry.

It's different these days, if they dont get picked, the dont give a fook and a majority of them have no morals at all, so buying a bag of spuds these days wont bother them

It's the way of things, market forces and all that. As has been said if not to the players where else should the money go? The shareholders? the chairman? It's got to go somewhere and the world isn't a particularly philanthropic place - least of all the premier league of English football.

It's like film stars; is $20m a film worth it? well yes if they do a good job and draw the crowds in.

I suspect that the average wage for a professional player is somewhere around 40k - 50k, there are relatively few earning much more than that.
