doing this? If I make a typo and try to place the cursor on a letter to correct it, the whole word gets highlighted so that ,when I click, that word gets deleted. Sometimes the whole paragraph which contains the typo gets highlighted (and deleted), which is VERY ANNOYING. Does any one know if I can re-set anything to stop this happening?

Try losing weight, it can be very effective for getting rid of "fat finger" syndrome.

Sometimes if you click once is does highight it all, but if you try clicking on it again, or double click, then it should work.

thank you,Tigga. Will try that. Trouble is, it just started happening recently, which is why I thought I must have re-set something by accident

Sounds like a sticky mouse button to me. See if it happens with a different mouse.

You might have a point there. Now I look, it does seem to be festooned with a fair helping of crumbs and sandwich fillings

I'd agree with that, it thinks its highlighting text on purpose.

Sounds a bit uppity. I'll have to tell my family to stop feeding it.

Sounds like 'Sticky Keys' or similar, some Microsoft useability feature. Have a look in control panel, I'm on a Vista machine at present so can't tell you were to look after that.

Or it could be that a shift key or Ctrl key on your keyboard is stuck down. If one of these keys is held down when you left click on a word it will often select full words/sentences/paragraphs.
