Stiff little Fingers (At the Whiskey 1980-81)

Best Concert. Rolling Stones Was never a Stones fan, only went because i wanted to see Guns n Roses and the missus made me stay to see them. Blown away.

Others well worth a mention.

Aerosmith, Van Halen, Pyscodelic Furs.

Nothing (Hardly) better than a good Concert with a good drink with a nice girl on your arm.

Ride at Middlesbrough Town Hall, Decemberish 1991.

I would have seen the support too (The Verve) if the bloody number 10 bus had turned up. Instead I had to get the 227 which used to go through Stockton etc and missed them.

Would have been Dock Rock in 86 then, aged 16.
Who knows, maybe it was phil on stage that I saw first?
Either that or Hartlepool Sixth Form College band Yes Yes Give me Your Jam Jars the same year.
Since then I've been to loads and loads of gigs, the last being Brian Jonestown Massacre at the Carling Academy 2.

Family were the first proper band I remember going to see - a couple of years before you saw them Kev - upstairs in some pub (the Red Lion I think) in Leytonstone, East London. Don't remember a support - probably wasn't one as it was a small venue. Saw many unknown / un named bands before that and played in a few myself. Family were great and I saw them many times after that. Roger Chapman's stage antics got me well & truly hooked on to live music, an addiction that I still have to this day and hopefully forever more.

Have seen both bands in my time. I like your Bonzo take on the world attitude, Hawkladyship & I often revert to a Rawlinsons End lifestyle - without the massive mansion alas.

I saw Streetwalkers in Hyde Park a couple of years later as well on the same bill as Kevin Ayers. I dunno what Roger Chapman did after that. He just seemed to fade.

I've seen Streetwalkers as well (and Kevin Ayers come to that) - didn't think they were a patch on Family though - I've got 2 of their albums here - one on red vinyl. Following Streetwalkers, Chapman has continually toured with his own band, they are very big in Germany & the continent and do blues standards / classics. A friend of mine (who's the singer in the band I'm with) was his sound engineer & did a lot of touring with him. Chapman was like a rake when I used to see him - he's put on a lot of weight since them - German pies must be good.
