Cyprus and Malta were about to become the 14th and 15th countries to get Euro's as their currency.

The Poles still have the Zlotty till 2011 and the exchange rate showed the £ as the strongest with an average of 5.4 to the £ compared to the euro as only 4.6 and the Dollar as low as 4.1.

Just how long can we hold out with the £ or should we all be the same as same as.

I say keep the £ as long as poss.

BUT a dollar is only about 49p and a € only 67p so for 100p you get 5.4 zlotty for 1dollar you get 4.1 zlotty and €1 you get 4.6 so the pound is the weakest

there's a conflict of interests between British consumers and British manufacturing. A strong pound is great for the consumer/holidaymaker, but bad for the manufacturing industry.

I think the main advantage of keeping the pound is the ability to keep dictating your own fiscal policy as opposed to the one size fits all policy which has weakened the Euro from a currency performance perspective.

Pro's and cons of both

I assume that you mean monetary policy - i.e., exchange rates. Fiscal policy relates to taxation and spending. Adopting the Euro would make little difference here.

In most other countries that rolled it out saw a huge jump with inflation, the Poles we spoke to about it hope that it brings an increase in salary.

No one here wants the dollar at the moment, and there's little interest in the Euro. Everyone wants the pound.
