Everyone's an expert eh??

For the purposes of the exercise you are Danny Wilson for the day. Well who would YOU be signing?? Who've we missed that we could have had?? Names, not shite like 'a pacy striker' or a 'proven goalscorer.' Darryl Duffy is ineligible.

Anyone who's grumbled about the signings and doesn't come up with a valid answer will be shot.

So answers from:

Jonny
Tree
Chip
Grave
Mr Gaunt

Will come under particularly close scrutiny from our panel of murderers

Anyone can sit on the fence. We missed out on Danny Graham. It's just a little disappointing that we appear to be signing mainly cast offs when there is supposedly money available. I know IOR lose a million a year but it has been stated that IOR want to really go for it next season so some of the signings seem a bit dubious.....

Edit - Boyd is also available....

Where is Danny Graham proven at? We've signed someone who's played at a higher level most his career. If he turned out to be another Barker type I'd be happy because when he was suspended last game of the season we had to change our game and we were a lot weaker for it.

While I was against the idea initially of getting Boydy back, I would sooner we had gone for him than Ian Moore.

I believe so.

Big nose Ronnie Moore's son.

And a promising signing too.

There really are some braindead negative midgydicks on here.

Football is littered with great players who never performed under certain managers or styles. Moore is without any doubt a skillful player who knows where the goal is. Wilson reckons he can make him tick so I for one am perfectly happy with the signing.

I believe this is my only post on Moore,

DanielGaunt wrote:

Yes and No.

I think he'll be cover for Richie Barker and when Barker needs a rest, Moore is of a similar mould (ok he doesn't score a similar ratio of goals).

So yes he'll get in our starting line-up but only as cover for Barker...which is good cause Barker is in his 30s, it's unrealistic for us to expect him to play every game next season and he'll need a breather.

At a guess...but I'm not the manager.

How the fook is that moanin?

Anyhow, pacey strikers available...I was going to be a smart arse and answer anyway and make a list of players that we are available.

I found every striker that was transfer listed or released, looked them up and found fuck all. The best I could find was...

Giuliano Grazioli (a bit too old), up for transfer.
Jemal Johnson, also reportadly up for transfer. Erm to unproven for my liking.

I wouldn't call the challenge fence sitting myself. I said I was dead chuffed at Ian Moores signing.

Danny Graham (the Boro cast off) is how good?? What's his record??

Boydy was almost sent to Boston because of his weight problem and attitude problem. Boston are now three leagues below us. Boyd has also gone through a couple of operations and we don't know how he fared through them. He didn't appear to thrill Newell last season in a struggling team. We have seen the best of Adam Boyd.

Who else??

'Cos the names aren't tumbling in??

Oh aye.

Five mil for a journeyman that Mickey Nelson ate for breakfast four times.

He was that chuffed at his tap in from a rebound that he came all over the Town End penalty spot.

And never even got booked for unsporting behaviour.

Mind he almost missed when he saw the Twins glaring at him........the penalty spot, not the tap in.....

boyd imho would have been a better signing than moore, as would duffy. im not even sure moore is a better prospect than effion williams but im prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt.

im also hoping we sign at least one young boro player.

im mainly disappointed, like any rational sane fan, that the duffy deal didnt go through. we did what we could but it wasnt to be. what am i meant to say ffs ? that im over the moon our main summer target has signed for someone else ?

but i will tell you what, you pay me what wilson is earning for a year and i will give you a proper answer. rolfl

Ha!! You lose Mrs Fireballs little lad!! Duffy was/is ineligible!!

The way I think of it is thus::

Last season we'd just got relegated. In disarray and with all the fight of a nun in a mugging. We regrouped, with few additions. We were largely shite for four months. We weren't that sparkling for another two until we hit a run of games against fairly useless sides and then it started to go right. At that stage if someone had said Barker or Moore, you'd have said Moore every time. Yes, you fookin would!! If they'd said Monkhouse or Elliott, no contest. When Nelse/Clark got suspended/injured, if you'd said drop Liddle back or put a Liverpool player in, what would have been the decision?? With Boland going missing for three months at the most crucial period of the season, if you'd said there's a kid playing against the likes of Celtic, Rangers, Hearts, Hibs week in week out, would you have wanted him?? Aye, too right.

So I simply don't see the problem.

In fact I do. We support a ten bob team and we want a fivers worth same as it's always been. We simply don't know when we're well off.

*insert sound of nail being hit on the head*

Spot on, I'm not sure Moore is coming here to be a 20 goal a season man (1 in 6 is not prolific) but this bloke has played at a higher level for his entire career and so far Wilson has only really made one balls up in signing Gibb.

I love the fact people are complaining cos he's a Leeds reject, shows how far Leeds has fallen. I'd still accept most of their "rejects" any day of the week!!!

all good signings already IMO none of them walks into the first team but all provide cover in positions where it's needed. if Foley, rae.mackay etc want to get in the team they've got to be better than moore simple as,it raises the bar.if the defence ain't working there are options.

I've read on another board tonight that Moore was popular with the fans at Leeds (described as a fans favourite) and that they should have kept. Seems strange when you look at his record at Elland Road but apparently he works he nuts off and that went down well with that lot.

Also a Burnley fan said he would get a very good reception if returned to Turf Moor in an oppostion shirt, and even thoug he only scored 50 goals in 5 years he was good player.

To play at the level he has he's got to have something about him. As much time as we have for Eifion I think Moore is a higher class of player.

Its up to him to show that now.

Moore Moore Moore - how do you like it, how do you like it.

Everyone likes the guy cos he is the full 100%. Prolific scorer he ain't. A centre forward who ends up playing wide because he doesn't score.

You'll love him and be frustrated by him in equal measure I guess. A great bloke to have around.

Soz, Chipster, I just threw you in there for a bit of colour, like!!

BUT in over twenty replies I have had only one name suggested, Danny Graham, a promising up and coming player not deemed good enough for Boro.

Proven players who are guaranteed to do the biz will want more money & glamour than we can give them.Every signing we make is going to be a gamble.
Last season many of us werent happy about getting one of our rivals (swindon) cast offs (monkhouse) but he turned out to be our most important signing of the season.
In 4 weeks time we'll start finding out wether these signings have been good or bad but in the meantime Im happy that we are signing players & looking like we have some ambition.

Picking on Ali G is unfair.

It must have been hard for him to come here and settle in. Hopefully now that we have Antwi at the club too they'll help each other and we'll see the best of Gibb next season.

Probably Chip's assertion that only people who haven't seen Monkhouse play could possibly think that he was any good.

thats rich coming from a man who is permanently sat on the fence. ive never seen you express an opinion worth reading on pools at any point ever. you just sit back and mock anyone who dares pop their head above the parapet.

its a message board ffs. if opinions upset you so much piss off back to your allottment.
I express an opinion when it's necessary little fella ...I spent a lot of time wanting rid of Scotty and got 'slagged off' for it..I spent a lot of time defending Wilson ( from you) and got slagged off for it...but I only express an opinion when it's necessary and don't see any reason to act like a jack in the box with tourettes every time a name is even mentioned in relation to Pools ...... as for the 'mocking' or is that the 'pointing out the basic flaw in your theory'...if it's annoying, you'll just have to get used to it
