.. were on the news this morning. After seral reports that link global warming to sunspot activity, it appears that Mars is experiencing the same variations as us.... the BBC decided it was time to strike back. The original data was on channel 4 and did indeed link the two together and actually showed the records to prove the relationship in some depth at a Swedish university ... The BBC just showed an 'expert' who said ...NO and showed him viewing a series of pointless rising graphs on a screen... now as someone who has wasted too much of their life viewing print outs and charts, the sight of this 'expert' viewing a series of nothing graphs may look impressive and intimidating to the layman,..... it looked like a load of bull to me .... the message put across was....' look. I am an expert, I am much, much cleverer than you and I have some really impressive and intimidating graphics to prove it!.....
I WAS NOT AT ALL IMPRESSED

The BBC are really starting to piss me off. I find their presentation of news over the past couple of years to be patronising, condescending and sensationalist.

Did anyone see the amount of coverage given to that 'binge drinking' story a couple of days ago?

Yet another example of something which is reported as a 'fact' - 'binge drinking is on the rise' they say. People have always drank in large quantities in town/city centres and mades arses of themselves. Yet I reckon it is harder than ever for young 'uns (especially underage ones) to get blaked and fall about like they should.

Does anyone remember the Buzz and Zoom Sunday night 'all you can drink for £6'? Also the Wesley did one a few years ago I think.

Remember club 'chits'?

They were basically free beer tokens which were given out at Christmas. My dad was a member of several clubs so he used to pocket about 500 free pint tokens to be used over a four week period. Now if that wasn't binge drinking then I don't know what was.

I remember them well Mr I,I also remember the shock & horror when The Owton Manor Club decide to replace them with a 20p a pint price drop over Christmas because "Thats not fair, whats the point of being a member when non members get the same benefits"
