Mrs Harrison was a local lady who was quite famous in the town during the 50's 60's and 70's. It has to be said that she was 'a bit touched' but she ran various organisations such her numerous talent contests, the 'Helen Shapiro fan club, many many charity jumble sales but most famous (infamous) of all was without doubt the 'Mrs Harrison's Lonely Hearts Club'. Evelyn herself was widowed during WW2 so she knew a thing or two about lonliness and despite being a figure of ridicule in some quarters there's no doubt that during her most active period she brought many a couple together.

Legend has it that during the 60's she was in London at a national final of a talent contest when she ran into the Beatles. They chatted with her and Lennon himself was intrigued by her lonely hearts club. A year later the Sgt Pepper album appeared. Coincidence?

It is said that Evelyn appears somewhere on the album cover.
